OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, AUGUST 1,2019
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Snitz at
7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019, in the Board Room of the Library, 1100 Westpark Way.
Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz,Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs,Board Members Jim
Hamilton,Mike McGehee, and Leslie Kane. Board Member Chris McAllister was not present.

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held June 6,2019.
The motion was made by Board Member McGehee and seconded by Board Member Hamilton.
ITEM NO.3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors that were present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
❖ Summer Reading Update
Library Director Sherry Knight gave a presentation on the results of the HEB Reads! Summer
Reading Challenge including final numbers and pictures from events.
Construction Update
Ms.Knight gave an update on the progress of the construction of the library and showed the board
drone footage of the current construction progress.
Board Member Gibbs inquired about a date when they could start the Bubble Wall design and
installation.

Ms. Knight stated that discussion regarding design could begin now and that installation will be
later as it only takes six weeks to install.
❖ Classes&Events Update
Ms. Knight gave an overview of events including the passive program "Copy Cat American Art"
for National American Artist Month and informed the Board that Sucha, the therapy dog, has
returned from summer break. Ms. Knight also mentioned that the Euless Library Foundation's
Annual Meeting will host Author Tim Madigan as he discusses his book"I'm Proud of You."This
event will be held at Texas Star and all members were invited to attend.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz mentioned an event happening at Texas Star tomorrow night and inquired about
the timeline to fill the open positions on the Library Board.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs gave more detail about the annual meeting and invited non-members to
attend. Vice Chairman Gibbs also stated that the Euless Library Foundation was finalizing
thoughts on recognition on the Bubble Wall.
Library Board Members
Board Member McGehee brought a photo book of his recent trip to the Amazon and shared that
with the Board. Board Member McGehee learned that the Frisco Library turned their story time
into a cultural time where the stories are read in various languages and suggested the Euless Public
Library try a similar program.
Board Member Kane asked the Board to aid her in coming up with a catchy hash tag for the Bubble
Wall social media promotions.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
LuAnn Portugal of Euless,TX discussed the latest updates from the state capital and how it would
affect City ordinances.
ITEM NO. 7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Vice Chairman Gibbs
and seconded by Board Member Kane. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
