PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION O ID ATIO OF SCHEDULED ITEMS M COUNCIL CHAMBERS Chairman an Ronald Young opened the planning and Zoning Commission meeting at 7:013 P.M,, for the consideration of scheduled items. He stated that four members of the Planning and Zoning Commission were present, constituting s quorum. Furthermore, the agenda for this meeting had been properly pasted in accordance with applicable low. He welcomed the guests in attendance. Staff Secretary Linde Lux, Step Secretary VISITORS PRESENT Jim Walker PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING - PAGE TWO JUNE 203 1995 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND INVOCATION The Pledge of Allegiance was given by Commissioner Zahn and the invocation was given by Commissioner Bright. MINUTES The motion to approve the minutes of the June 6, 1995, Planning and Zoning meeting., as presented, was made by Commissioner Zahn and seconded by Commissioner Mc Millon. The motion carried, REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS. ITEM O. I PUBLIC HEARING - ZONING CASE #95-14 Request of Ulys Lane for Wier & Associates, Inc,, for a change in zoning on 14.89 acres known as a portion of Tract 6 of the J. Doss Survey, A-441, from its present zoning of PD #1115 (Planned Development for outdoor commercial amusement) to R-5 (Multi-Family Dwelling District - up to 24 dwelling units per acre); located on the north side of Cheek Sparger Read and west of S. H. 121 Chairman Young stated the Public Hearing for this item has been withdrawn by the applicant. ITEM NO. 2 - PUBLIC HEARING - ZONING CASE #95-16 Request of Ulys Lane for Wier & Associates, Inc., for a change in zoning on 30,14 acres known as Tracts 3, 4A01A, 4AIA, 4B, 4601, 4BO2, 4C! 6, 6A1; 6B, 61301 and 6 I of the J. Doss Survey, A-441, from its present zoning of PD #1115 (Planned Development for outdoor commercial amusement) and R-1 (Single-Family Detached Dwellings) to C-2 (Community Business District), located on the northwest corner of Cheek Sparger Road and S. H_ 1 21 PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING M PAGE THREE JUNE 20, 1995 Rod Tyler, City Planner, introduced Zoning Case #95-15 as the request of Mr. Ulys Lane for a charge of zoning on 30.14 acres in the J. Doss Survey.. A-441, for the proposed construction of a com ercial shopping center to be located on the north side of Cheek Sparger load and S, N. 121, Chairman Young stated the Public Nearing had been advertised for Zoning Case#95-15 and property owner notifications had been mailed in a timely manner. He opened the Public Nearing and explained the rules governing a Public Nearing and called for the applicant to come forward and make a presentation. Mr. Jim Walker., 3901 Airport Freeway, Bedford, advised the Commissioners and audience that he is the technical advisor for the applicant. He stated this zoning change request is for the proposed construction of a commercial shopping center to be located o€i the north side of Cheek Sparger hoed across from the present construction site of the new 'Wal-Mart Moro in Bedford. Mr. 'walker stated the project will be done in two (2) phases starting with the southern corner closest to Cheek Sparger and ending with the second phase being north of Little Bear Creek_ Chairman Young asked for any proponents and/or opponents. Where berg none, Chairman young cloud the Public Nearing. He asked for any discussion among the Commissioners, Commissioners Zahn and l c illon Mated that the zoning change is in compliance with the City's Comprehensive Plan and they have no problem with the zoning change. Chairman Young also stated that he is in agreement with the zoning change. Commissioner Bright made the motion to approve Zoning Case#95415 as presented and seconded by Commissioner Zahn. The vote was as follows: Ayes: Commissioners Bright, Zahn, f c illon and Young Mays: done The motion carried. ITEM NO. 3 a REPORTS Rod Tyler, City Planner, stated that the AIWA (American Planning Association Commissioners Workshop is scheduled for Monday, July 31, 1995, at the North Richland Hills recreation center. He advised that transportation to and from the workshop will be furnished for anyone wishing to attend. He stated the workshop meeting will be in place PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING - PAGE FOUR JUNE 20, 1995 of the Tuesday night Planning and Zoning meeting of August 1, 1995, He also stated that he will be out of town for the workshop meeting. Paui Kruckemeyer, City Engineer, stated he had no reports for the Commissioners, ADJOURNMENT There being no further business the regular Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was adjoumed at 711 P,M, --------------- Chairman Boat /Date"
