HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-02-08 Euless Historical Preservation Committee Minutes February 8, 1993 Members and Staff Present: Diana Crawford, Bill Byers, Mazie Eden, Betty Fuller, Robert Nail , Jean Whitener, Nina Winters, Rick Herold - Staff Liason Visitors: Kelli Dickerson, Public Administration Intern, U.N.T. Chairperson: Diana Crawford called the meeting to order at 10:20 A.M. The Minutes of the December 9 meeting were approved. Diana Crawford requested that Susan Crim be notified that there was no January meeting due to the lack of a quorum. The Mission Statement for the Euless Historical Preservation Committee were reviewed and approved. (Motion for approvals - Nina Winter, Second by Jean Whitener) The Bylaws for the Euless Historical Preservation Committee were reviewed and approved as corrected. (Motion for approval - Nina Winter, Second by Jean Whitener) A copy of the Mission Statement and Bylaws will be submitted to the City Council . The Committee reviewed the list of 1993 projects proposed by committee members and selected projects for 1993. In response to Chairperson Crawford's request one committee member present volunteered to monitor each project. 1993 PROJECTS: 1 . Develop a history of the city of Euless including: 1. ) maps depicting the community during the following time periods: (a) 1890-1900 and (b) 1940-1950 2. ) a pictorial file of Euless: (a) long ago and (b) current Bill Byers 2. Maintain a booth at the City of Euless April 23-25 Arbor Daze festivities featuring display maps of early Euless Diana Crawford 3. Ironbridge plaque setting ceremony - May 1993 - (103 years old) Nina Winter 4. Collection of tape recorded interviews and transcripts with long-time residents Betty Fuller 1 5. Information regarding established churches Mazie Eden 6. Archive Collection for Tarrant County Historical Association collection of Robert Nail including Post Office 7. Calloway Cemetary Plating Announcements and New Business: Chairperson Crawford reminded members of the March 2 South Euless Cornerstone Setting Ceremony - 2 P.M. A motion was made by Bill Byers and seconded by Robert Nail that the Historical Preservation committee submit a request to the Euless City Council for the donation of $200.00 to underwrite a portion of the cost of the booklets, "80 Years of Education in Euless," which will be sold for $5.00 each at the South Euless Cornerstone setting ceremony March 2. This request is subject to the availability of city funds for such a project. The meeting adjourned at 12:00 Noon 2
