March 8, 1993
Members and Staff Present: Diana Crawford, Bill Byers, Betty Fuller, Robert
Nail , Jean Whitener, Nina Winters, Rick Herold - Staff Liason
Members Absent: Mazie Eden, Evelyn Himes, Iva Nail, and Helen Payton
Chairperson: Diana Crawford called the meeting to order at 10:43 A.M.
The Minutes of the February 8 meeting were approved.
I. MISSION STATEMENT - BYLAWS
Chairperson Crawford reported that the Historical Preservation
Committee Mission Statement and Bylaws were approved by the City
Council at its February 23 meeting following the addition of the
statement that all Bylaws changes be approved by the city council . A
certified copy of the Bylaws was filed with the city secretary.
II. 1993 PROJECTS - MEMBER REPORTS
A. Bill Byers discussed his plans for the map(s) to be displayed at
the Historical Preservation Committee Booth at the April 23, 24,
and 25 Arbor Daze celebration. The city of Euless Geographical
Information Systems will enlarge the map submitted by Mr. Byers.
B. Chairperson Crawford discussed the following Arbor Daze concerns:
a. A schedule for members to man the booth for the following hours
of operation:
April 23 Noon - 11 P.M.
April 24 9 A.M. - 11 P.M.
April 25 Noon - 7 P.M.
A schedule will be sent to members to volunteer for 3 hour
booth supervision assignments. Committee members will indicate
1st, 2nd and 3rd choices. The Mid Cities Genealogical Society
has offered to assist in this project. Diana Crawford, Bill
Byers and Rick Herold are researching the best sources for a
banner for the booth.
C. Nina Winter reported on plans for the Friday, May 7 Ironbridge
Birthday Party. Her report included:
* Her March 29 meeting with Julia Wakeley to formulate plans
* Participation by the South Euless 6th grade students (Essays
* Painting the bridge (giving it a weathered appearance)
* Invitations, refreshments, etc.
* The sign which is being refurbished for placement at the site
* Application to state for historical marker designation
D. Betty Fuller reported that she had taped an interview (Ethel
Uselton Fuller) . Discussion of other agenda items - archive
collection, and Calloway Cemetary Plating were curtailed due to
time limitations.
III. OLD BUSINESS
Letters of appreciation from Euless P.T.A. President Lynne Moffatt,
and booklets "Celebrating 80 Years of Education" were distributed to
each committee member in appreciation for Euless Historical
Preservation Committee's donation to defray the printing costs of the
"Celebrating 80 Years of Education" booklet for March 2, 1993 South
Euless Cornerstone Ceremony.
Chairperson Crawford formally extended appreciation to Rick Herold
for providing the stage and flowers for the ceremony.
IV. NEW BUSINESS
Chairperson Crawford requested a volunteer to represent the Euless
Historical Preservation Committee at Tarrant County Historical
Committee Meetings. Betty Fuller's name will be submitted.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 11:35 A.M.
