Euless Historical Preservation Committee
Minutes
July 12, 1993
Members and Staff Present: Bill Byers, Mazie Eden, Betty Fuller, Evelyn
Rimes, Jean Whitener, Nina Winters and Katherine Thompson (staff)
Visitors Present: Boyce Byers and Keith Jernigan
Bill Byers called the meeting to order at 10:05 A.M.
The minutes of the June 14 meeting were approved as corrected.
I. 1993 Projects - Member Reports
A. Ironbridge Birthday Celebration - Nina Winters suggested October 8
as a possible date for the Ironbridge celebration. This date
correlates with Columbus Day. She also reported that she is
continuing her research with the Veterans Association and the
American Legion to locate names of Euless citizens who served in
World War I and World War II.
B. Establishment of Euless Churches - Mazie Eden reported that she is
continuing to follow up leads for research.
C. Photo collection - Jean Whitener has taken 15 old photos to the
lab. The negatives will be available at our next meeting.
D. Calloway Cemetary Plating - Bill Byers is awaiting permission from
Boy Scouts of America to designate Calloway Cemetary as an approved
Scout Merit Badge project.
II. Old Business
A. Katherine Thompson reported that she had contacted Grapevine
regarding the cost of a city history book. The committee discussed
the possible existence of another Euless history book written by a
man in Arlington. Weldon Cannon has his address.
B. Historical Preservation Committee alternate members.
The committee mentioned the following names:
. Aneace Booher
. Horace Booher
. Helen Gleghorn
. Weldon Cannon
. Keith Jernigan
At 11:30 P.M. Jean Whitener made the motion to adjourn which was
seconded by Nina Winters. The motion was approved and the meeting adjourned.
