Minutes
December 12 , 1994
Members Present: Bill Byers, Diana Crawford, Mazie Eden, Betty
Fuller, Evelyn Himes, Iva Nail , Robert Nail ,
Helen Payton, Jean Whitener, and Nina Winters.
Staff Present: Johnny Green, Rick Herold and Julia Wakeley.
Guests Present: Burl Gilliam, President, Grapevine Historic
Preservation Commission and Glenn Walker,
Euless City Council.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 10:03 a.m.
The minutes of the November 14 meeting were
approved.
I. Election of Secretary:
The motion to elect Betty Fuller as Secretary made by Bill
Byers and seconded by Evelyn Himes, was passed unanimously.
II. Reports
A. Diana Crawford displayed the blue line proofs of the
"thank-you notes" which feature the Norma Lively
watercolor of the Fuller House. These will be produced in
two (2) formats, printed and blank, to be used as:
• Contribution acknowledgements
• Memorial contribution acknowledgements
• Written thank you notes
The committee suggested that the notes be printed in the
ivory color of the sample. The committee authorized a
$200. 00 expenditure for note cards.
B. Street Naming: Diana Crawford circulated Lawrence
Jernigan's letter thanking the committee for our support
in the renaming of Dock McGinnis Drive. Committee members
Diana Crawford, Mazie Eden, Robert Nail and Jean Whitener
attended the ceremony.

C. Calloway Cemetery: Diana asked Bill Byers to contact the
scout who developed an alphabetical listing of those
interred in Calloway Cemetery to also provide a row-by-row
(plated) list.
D. Archive Photographs - Jean Whitener displayed two photos
of Euless School , an early photo of the original two story
building plus a second photo of the school after removal
of the top floor. Buckeye Photography is currently being
used for photo reproductions.
III. Special Guest Report
Burl Gilliam, President of the Grapevine Historic Preservation
Commission, gave an overview of the following:
• The history of the preservation efforts of the down
town business district land owners, the city, and
residents of Grapevine.
• Efforts to list downtown Grapevine on the National
Historic Registry
• Fundraising project data
• Background information regarding the Grapevine Historic
Preservation commission, the Historical Society and
"The Foundation" the work of P.W. McCallum.
• Information about the Grapevine "Festival" which
generates $90,000 - $100,000 in income.
• Association with, performance of, and results achieved
by, Archi Texas.
Mr. Gilliam emphasized that the Euless committee should:
• Categorize our historic structures
• Find something to Capitalize on
IV. Old Business
Fuller House - Bill Byers reported that 3 concrete bids had
been received. Other bids on Fuller House remodeling to be
requested include:
• Plumbing
• Roof
• Exterior

The committee discussed the Euless Fire Code requirements of
15 sq. ft. of area per person for public buildings. Maximum
capacity for the Simmons Building is 175. The City also
requires a $60.00 deposit plus an additional $25.00 for the
services of an attendant when a facility is rented.
The motion by Nina Winters, seconded by Mazie Eden, that the
committee submit a request to the City Council that the
Harrington Farm on Heritage Drive be stabilized to prevent
further deterioration passed unanimously.
The committee anticipates several bids for restoring the
Fuller House will be presented at the January meeting. Goals
and possible projects will also be discussed at the January
meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 12:45 A.M.
