Diana Crawford introduced O. D. Story, the electrician who responded via the Volunteer

Fuller House.
She also introduced special guest speaker, Roddy Boggus, Past President of the Tarrant
County Historic Preservation Council.

Euless churches requesting church histories. She also reported that Weldon Cannon is
preparing the history of the First United Methodist Church and that she has a copy of the
history of the First Baptist Church.
Diana Crawford displayed the Historical Committee's gift acknowledgement cards
featuring the Fuller House. The two formats of the cards purchased are: (1) Thank you
for the gift in honor of..., and (2) Thank you for the gift. These represent the committee's
authorized expenditure of $160.00.
,
The committee discussed ordering blank cards depicting five assorted designs (two of
each) such as: the old Ironbridge, the Fuller House, Euless School, the Methodist or
Baptist church and/or old homesteads (Cannon home, etc.) to be sold to generate funds
for future projects. Diana Crawford will obtain price quotes for the cards. Helen Payton
volunteered to send the committee's "thank you" cards.
The committee also discussed Arbor Daze booths; i.e., the historical booth and the
possibility of manning a Taco Bell booth at the celebration.
Diana also reported that a troop of Girl Scouts had volunteered to donate project time in
order to earn a merit badge. Stacking Fuller House bricks was discussed as a possible
project.
Diana circulated Lawrence Jernigan's thank you and photos of the naming of Dock
McGinnis Drive.
Jean Whitener volunteered to take the Christmas ornament brochures and obtain price
quotes in order to make a recommendation at the February meeting whether the
committee should consider purchasing ornaments to sell at the Fuller House opening
and/or at other public events.
Item No. 3: New Business
Diana Crawford reported that Lynette Gilmore volunteered to write a history of the Audie
Murphy Rodeo (1948-1952) held on two locations owned by the late Ray Woods. No
action was taken on her proposal.
Item No. 4: Old Business
Diana Crawford presented Roddy Boggus who reported on "What Is and Isn't Important
in Preservation." His report focused on the following three options for historical
designation and the criteria for obtaining each one:
1. State Site Marker
2. Recorded Texas Historical Marker
3. The National Register of Historic Places
He expressed that a National Register nomination must be submitted by the Texas State
Historic Commission and more stringent criteria are required for such a designation.
The Fuller House, being 50+ years of age (built in 1932-33) would be categorized as a
Period Revival Style House. Mr. Boggus urged the committee to pursue a historical
designation for the Fuller House.
Mr. Boggus urged committee members to attend the National Trust Historical
Preservation convention to be held at Fort Worth Worthington Hotel in October.
Johnny Green, Parks Superintendent, distributed copies of all roofing bids for the Fuller
House received by the city.
Diana Crawford asked Bill Byers, Chairman of the Fuller House Work Committee (Bill
Byers, Rick Herold, and Glenn Walker) to work with his committee plus Iva Nail and
Weldon Cannon to gather the information necessary for the Fuller House to be nominated
for a historical designation. This research would include: (1) calling the Texas State
Historical Preservation office to determine the feasibility of submitting an application, and
(2) obtaining a floor plan of the house. Mr. Boggus offered to develop the floor plan.
This preliminary research would precede any acceptance of bids for a wood or
composition roof on the Fuller House.
