Minutes
July 10, 1995
The July 10, 1995 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation
Committee was called to order at 10:20 a.m. with Chairperson
Diana Crawford presiding.
Members present: Diana Crawford, Geri Donworth, Betty Fuller, Iva
Nail, Robert Nail, Helen Payton, Jean Whitener and Nina Winters.
Staff Present: Johnnie Green and Rick Herold
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the June 12, 1995 meeting were approved with the
addition of Diana Crawford's announcement that she cannot serve
as chairperson next year (1996) . She now works at American
Airlines in a full time capacity.
I. OLD BUSINESS
A. Members Reports
1. Old Ironbridge - Nina Winters displayed the photos, programs,
student essays and wooden nickel wishes for those opening the
Ironbridge time capsule in 50 years (2044) . 1994 Ironbridge
Dedication Ceremony mementos will be placed in a P.V.C. time
capsule. The capsule will be buried two (2) - feet-west of the- end
of the plaque already in place at the bridge which serves as a -
footbridge crossing the creek east of South Euless Elementary
School. The bridge path leads from South Euless Park to
Ironbridge Circle.
2. Note Cards
a. 25 sets of Historical Commission note cards were given to
Barbara Chambers, city staff, who will supervise the sale of
the note cards at the water department payment counter.
b. The Committee discussed placing a flyer in city water
bills to publicize the note cards. A volunteer form could
also be included. City residents can complete and return the
forms if they wish to volunteer time, money or
historical/antique objects (to be placed in the Fuller
House. )
3 . Diana Crawford asked members to save any newspaper clippings,
etc. containing historical facts and other information to be ... .
placed in the Historical Commission Scrapbook.
4. Diana also requested that video tapes be made of all oral
histories recorded. City employee, Rick Maldonaldo (685-1590)
located at the service center, will provide the equipment and
video tape the sessions. The following names were suggested as

possible oral history contributors:
Lizzie Reaves
Jimmy Payton
Willie Mae McCormick
Iva and Robert Nail
5. The committee also discussed the location of the Adam Euless
marker to be placed at the city complex.
B. Fuller House Update
1 . City staff member, Ray McDonald, will assist Johnnie Green
in supervising the Fuller House remodeling project.
2. See attachments (4 pages) for current status of funds for the
Fuller House Remodeling and repair schedule.
3 . Johnnie Green reported on the following repair projects:
a. Wall and back porch repair $715.35
b. Plumbing contract awarded to Oscar Deaton $4,500.00
c. A/C heating contract awarded to ABC Heat & Air $5,891.00
d. Concrete work contract awarded to Tri-Cities $2734.85
e. Roof repair contract awarded to Euless Construction
Company $9,425.00
f. Brick work - Johnnie Green suggested that Bill Byers meet
with city employee Peni Sitani to determine if he and his
crew would care to make a contract bid on the brick work
(cleaned or uncleaned. )
g. Wiring - Diana Crawford will meet with Bill Byers to
discuss contracting O.D. Story, the electrician who
volunteered via the Hot Line to wire the Fuller House.
h. Interior - Iva Nail will make a list of items and needs
required for the renovation and restoration of the
interior of the Fuller House.
i. Military Museum items to be included in the display were
discussed.
C. City Recognition of Taco Bell and T.D. Electric
On behalf of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee, the
Euless City Council will present a proclamation of appreciation
to Taco Bell for moving the Fuller House and to T.U. Electric for
insulating the exterior of the house. The presentation will be
Thursday, July 13 at the 7:00 p.m. City Council Meeting.
Committee members are urged to attend.
D. Arbor Daze Booth Visitors
Members reported on phone contacts with Arbor Daze Booth
Visitors. Betty Fuller reported that Elaine Ballard (282-1233)
offered to locate antiques for the Fuller House. She also

old 78 records if the home will have a record player.
E. Wiser Logs
Robert Nail reported that he had contacted the man who has the
Wiser cabin logs. He will collect them within the next few
weeks.
II. NEW BUSINESS
A. Athletic Complex
Rick Herold reported on the status of the new Athletic Complex.
He also shared information about the possibility of obtaining a
$500,000.00 grant. The city is planning a Mosier Valley Freedom
Trail on the Complex. He suggested a 2-3 member committee to
work with a Mosier Valley resident (Vada Johnson) to help with
plans for the Freedom Trail and the possibility of using an
existing Mosier Valley structure (to be moved to the site of the
Trail. )
B. Ruth Millican
Rick also reported that a tribute to Ruth Millican would be
placed in the Ruth Millican Center. The Historical Preservation
Committee discussed sponsoring the project. A plaque for Ruth
Millican plus a tribute to Warren Fuller will be placed in the
lobby.

The meeting adjourned at 12:05 p.m.
