MINUTES It NOVEMBER 13, 1995 The November 13 , 1995 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee was called to order at 10:10 AM by Chairperson Diana Crawford. MEMBERS PRESENT Bill Byers, Diana Crawford, Mazie Eden, Betty Fuller, Evelyn Himes, Vada Johnson, Willie Mae McCormick, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Helen Payton, Jean Whitener and Nina Winters. STAFF PRESENT Bo Bass, Joe Hennig, Keven Mercer, Ray McDonald and Julia Wakeley. GUESTS PRESENT Charles Miller (City Council) , Mrs. Rose Miller, and Dr. George Green. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the October 10, 1995 meeting were approved. I. OLD BUSINESS A. Oral Histories - Nina Winters submitted 3 transcribed copies of the cassette taped oral history of Willie Byers. She recommended that genealogy data sheets be completed on the oral history subject. Diana Crawford requested a list of names of completed and prospective interviewees for the December meeting. B. Adam Euless Marker - Bo Bass and Kevin Mercer reviewed the site plan, location map and cost estimates for the Adam Euless Marker. The total cost estimate is $3300.00. Bill Byers made the motion, seconded by Nina Winters that the committee accept the design plan and location for the Adam Euless Marker which would include lighting in the area at the estimated cost of $3300.00. The motion passed unanimously. The application for the historical marker will be submitted to the Texas Historical Commission in Austin later in November. C. Fuller House Update: 1. Terry Boaz completed work on the back porch, roof EHPC MTG 111395 page 2 eaves etc. 2. Jim Bob Jones will begin bricklaying November 13 with job completion in 1-2 weeks. 3 . Roof construction is scheduled to begin November 20. 4. Mr. Story, the electrician who volunteered free labor fell down an elevator shaft, but still plans to donate his services; however, there will be a delay. 5. Cornice work has not been assigned. 6. The cornerstone ceremony is scheduled to be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 28. Bill Byers reported that Gerald Cannon has offered to donate an original Bear Creek Bridge plaque to the committee. The consensus is for this to be formally donated at a future meeting (probably Bear Creek Road Bridge plaque. ) Julia Wakeley has the Main Street Bear Creek Bridge Plaque in her office. D. Fuller House Interior - Iva Nail - Helen Payton : Iva Nail reported the following donations for the interior of the Fuller House. 1. Breakfront donated by the estate of the Warren Fuller Family (Tray Fuller, 1600 Lagoana Lane, Ft. Worth, 76134 and Veta Boswell, 7249 Wabash, Dallas, 75214) 2. Original Homer and Edith Fuller dining room furniture (table, 6 chairs, and buffet) donated by Iva Fuller Nail and Robert Nail (purchased at Ellesians in 1934) 3 . Maple breakfast table with leaves donated by Linda Nail Pool and Mike Pool, 3238 Ashbury, Bedford, 76021. 4. German Easter Egg ornament and vase from Trula Cannon Phelps estate donated by Troy Fuller. 5. Lace tablecloth and plates from Warren Fuller estate donated by Troy Fuller and Veta Boswell Diana Crawford recommended that the Interior Decorating subcommittee contact individuals who restore historical homes for suggestions of sources of wall paper, hardware, etc. II. NEW BUSINESS Dr. George Green reviewed his book, durst-Euless-Bedford, An Illustrated History and sold 15 copies of his book. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 11 :40 AM.
