MINUTES
DECEMBER 11, 1995
The December 11 , 1995 meeting of the Euless Historical
Preservation Committee was called to order at 10: 20 A.M. by
Chairperson Diana Crawford.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Bill Byers, Weldon Cannon, Diana Crawford, Mazie Eden, Betty
Fuller, Evelyn Himes, Willie Mae McCormick, Iva Nail, Robert Nail
and Jean Whitener

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the November 13 meeting were approved.
I. OLD BUSINESS
A. Member Reports
1. Betty Fuller submitted the following list of names for
oral history interviews:

2. Chairperson Crawford reiterated her desire that the
committee sponsor a monthly newspaper column/article
highlighting historical commission information.
3 . The committee also discussed items to be placed in the
Fuller House Museum, the care and security of any
items/furnishings placed in the home and the locked
cases to display memorabilia and/or collections.
4. Jean Whitener suggested that the scrapbook of newspaper
articles collected by Callie Whitener over several

decades might be donated for museum display. The
scrapbook contains articles from the "Mid Cities News"
"Fort Worth Star Telegram" and possibly from 1950-60
editions of the "Euless Herald" and "Fort Worth Press"
articles from Dorothy Edge's column "Around the Edge. "
B. Fuller House Cornerstone Ceremony
1. Diana Crawford extended the committee's appreciation to
the following people on behalf of their efforts in the
success of the Fuller House Cornerstone Ceremony:
Johnnie Green Parks & Recreation
Rick Maldonaldo (685-1590) for video taping event
Jenny Kratz
Rick Herold
Julia Wakeley for hot chocolate
Tim Rolen for set-up and clean-up
Jean Whitener - Guest Book (41 signatures)
Bill Byers for coordinating with Masonic Lodge
Iva & Robert Nail for donating cornerstone
2. Iva Nail reported that the brick mason, Jim Bob Jones,
had placed a penny in the last bit of mortar topping the
fireplace when he re-bricked the home. This was for
good luck, and old custom of brick masons.
C. Fuller House Update
1 . Diana distributed Ray McDonald's Fuller House Status
Update report. On December 1, 1995, the balance in
account #12-10-90-9130 (The Fuller House Hotel and Motel
Tax Fund) was $42,700.00. The balance in account #01-
90-61-8901 (The Betterment Fund from the Water Bill
Contributions for Restoration) was $4,717.63.
$15,282 .37 was spent from this account for plumbing,
concrete work, brick, power pole, back porch, wall and
facial repairs, etc.
2. Bill Byers reported that the roofing should be completed
before Christmas. The side porch (not part of the
original structure) will be removed.
3 . Bill Byers will contact Mr. Story, the electrician, who
volunteered his services.
4. Other Fuller House discussions included:
*Placement of storm windows with Lexan (A material which
is difficult to penetrate) and/or bars for security
*Facial and interior restoration
*Wrought iron porch railing to replace the original
*Exterior security fence
*Venetian or mini blinds
*Donation by Billy Joe Fuller of the Air Force barrel in
which his possessions were returned at the conclusion
of his tour of duty
*Robert Nail will contact professional cabinet maker
friends to discuss rebuilding kitchen cabinets

5. Iva Nail reported the donation of Jessie and Warren
Fuller's player piano and tapes. Vita Boswell and Troy
Fuller donated piano which was appraised at $30,000.00.
6. A list will be compiled of donated items/furnishings.
This list will be displayed in the museum.
D. Historical Marker Update
1. The Adam Euless Marker application will be initially
submitted to the Tarrant County Historical Commission.
2. Copies of Weldon Cannon's Adam Euless Historical
Narrative were sent to city council members and the
Mayor.
3 . Weldon Cannon reported that Evelyn Fitch, a Bobo family
descendant, was interested in obtaining a marker for
Weldon Wise Bobo, the founder of Bedford.
II. NEW BUSINESS
A. Chairperson Crawford reported that the city council had
approved Resolution #95-921 replacing Resolution #92-793.
The new resolution removes the limit on the number of
members who may serve on the Euless Historical Preservation
Committee. The previous resolution limited the number to
10 members.
B. Bill Byers reported that Jim Bob Jones suggested the
committee might be interested in preserving the old W.P.A.
outhouse, located on the old Jones home place adjacent to
the Gutherlands, the Professional offices and the Pharmacy
on Highway 157.
C. Election of a Secretary for the Preservation Committee -
The motion by Bill Byers seconded by Mazie Eden to nominate
Helen Payton for secretary was passed. This motion is
subject to Helen Payton's acceptance of the position.
The meeting adjourned for the covered dish lunch prepared by
members at 11:30 A.M.
