HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-01-09 EULESS HISTORICAL PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MINUTES JANUARY 9, 1996 The January 9, 1996 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee was called to order at 10:10 AM by Vice Chairman Billy Byers. MEMBERS PRESENT Billy Byers, Weldon Cannon, Willie Mae McCormick, Jean Whitener, Geri Donworth, Robert Nail, Iva Nail , Nina Winters, Evelyn Mimes, Vada Johnson and Helen Payton STAFF PRESENT Special Events Coordinator Ray McDonald APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the December 11, 1995 were approved after correction to show that player piano donated by Tray Fuller and Veta Boswell was not appraised at $30,000 but would cost #30,000 to replace. I. OLD BUSINESS A. Fuller House Update 1. Ray McDonald passed out information on Fuller House status update. 2. Billy Byers reported the roof was completed December 21, 1995. 3 . Billy Byers has been unable to contact the electrician that volunteered his services, Mr. Storey. Billy will try again this week. If not able to make contact, he will get new bids and will try to get bids for cornice work also. 4 . Geri Donworth and Billy Byers are checking on the price of Leyan windows. 5. Other Fuller House Discussion *Existing steel cabinets to be removed and replaced by wooden cabinets, painted white. Robert Nail is working on this. *White ceramic for counter top and back splash *Iva Nail & Helen Payton are checking on wall paper for living room and dining room. *Committee agreed there should not be a dishwasher in the kitchen. *Security system and fence around the house. r EHPC Mtg. 010996 page 2 B. Historical Marker Ray McDonald passed out information regarding lighting of Historical Marker. Committee reviewed plans from Bo Bass regarding Ground Mounted flood light for Adam Euless Historical marker at an additional cost of #265.00. Jeri Donworth made motion seconded by Iva Nail that we add a ground mounted flood light to Adam Euless Marker at an additional cost of $265.00. Motion passed unanimously. C. Robert Nail reported he has been by Booker Outhouse. He will check back before next meeting. II. NEW BUSINESS A. Nina Winters Suggested that the Committee might like to tour the Copeland House in Grand Prairie. This house is used for functions such as planned for the Fuller House. Nina will check on schedule and try to arrange for Committee to tour the Copeland House in March or April during the regular meeting. B. Committee discussed participation in Arbor Daze. It was agreed that we have the Historical Board in a different location. C. Goals for 1996 Finish Fuller House Participate in Parade of Lights Collect more pictures The meeting adjourned at 11:25 AM.
