MINUTES
FEBRUARY 12, 1996
The February 12 , 1996 meeting of the Euless Historical
Preservation Committee was called to order by Chairperson Diana
Crawford at 10:15 A.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Diana Crawford, Geri Donworth, Mazie Eden, Betty Fuller, Evelyn
Rimes, Vada Johnson, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Jean Whitener and
Nina Winters
STAFF PRESENT
Parks and Leisure Services Manager Julia Wakeley and Community
Services Projects Supervisor Ray McDonald.
GUEST PRESENT
Teresa Walker
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the January 9, 1996 meeting were approved with
spelling corrections.
I. OLD BUSINESS
A. Member Reports
1. Jean Whitener is researching and will copy photos with
historical relevance to Euless from the archives at TCJC
Northeast Campus. Photos to be copied include:
-Lee and Willie Byers' 50th wedding anniversary
celebration
-Parents of Walter McCormick
-Ed and Sally Cromer
2 . Geri Donworth has requested old police photos.
3 . Nina Winters reported that she has made arrangements for
the committee to visit the "Copeland Home" in Grand
Prairie April 8 (April meeting) . Diana Crawford
requested that Nina contact the City of Irving to schedule
a visit to Irving's "Heritage House" on the same date. A
lunch stop will be included. Julia Wakeley will reserve a
city room.
4. Other historical sites to visit for information, ideas and
guidance in planning and setting up the Fuller House
Museum are:
-The Western Heritage Museum in Fort Worth
-The African-American Historical Home under the
direction of Leona Rollanear, Texas Wesleyan
University
B. Fuller House Update
1. Ray McDonald reported that no work had been initiated on

the Fuller house since the January meeting; however, a
notice for bids on the following repairs has been
publicized:
-Bids for windows and dormers
-Bids for siding
Mr. Story, the volunteer electrician will be contacted.
His recent job related accident may prevent him from
donating his services.
2 . The committee discussed using the original front entry
door rather than a steel door.
3 . Types of fences were discussed.
4 . a. A balance of $32,190.00 has been reported in the
Fuller House Fund, however, moving fees may not have
been deducted from the total.
b. Approximately $7000.00 in donations will be added to
the $32,190.00 total.
c. $4,166.70 from the Euless Hotel/Motel Tax collections
is also dedicated to the Fuller House Restoration.
d. Bill Byers received a $50.00 donation from a Mr.
Renbow.
5. Iva Nail reported that she and Helen Payton have located
the following restoration items at "This Old House" in
Fort Worth:
-Doorknobs $18 .00 each (reproductions $8.00)
-Chandelier $125.00
They have located some wallpaper which is similar to the
original but will continue to search.
6 . Nina Winters' motion, seconded by Evelyn Himes, to set up
a $1,000.00 account for Iva Nail and Helen Payton to use
for purchasing interior replacements was approved.
7. Robert Nail reported that replacement kitchen cabinets
would be installed with volunteer labor.
8. A refrigerator and stove will also be placed in the
kitchen.
C. Adam Euless Marker
1 . Dignitaries from surrounding communities, including an
official representative from the Tarrant County Historical
Commission, will be invited to the Adam Euless Marker
Dedication Ceremony.
2. A tentative date for the ceremony will be in six months.
D. Members of the Historical Committee have requested that we
participate in the Parade of Lights festivities. The
committee will ask Jimmy Payton or Andy Chesney if either
has an antique car which could be ridden in the parade.
II. NEW BUSINESS
A. Arbor Daze - April 19, 20 and 21.
1. Geri Donworth will coordinate plans, including a formal
request to Michael Young, Taco Bell Manager, that they
again allow the Historical Committee to host and share the
profits for a Taco Bell food concession at Arbor Daze.

Betty Fuller will assist in this endeavor. Arrangements
must be made for electricity and a banner erected. Diana
has the banner.
2 . The committee will not request an additional booth for
display of photos, sale of notecards or handout materials
at the 1996 Arbor Daze Celebration.
B. Willard Fleming (Alvord (817)221-3161) will donate square
nails from the Whitener frame to be displayed in the Fuller
House Museum.
C. The Wiser log cabin logs will also be obtained from the
donor.
D. Nina Winters announced the Texas Statehood Celebration (150
years) is to be held February 19, 1996 in Austin.
E. Iva Nail announced that the First United Methodist Church of
Euless will celebrate the 120th anniversary of its founding
on May 18, 1996 . The committee recommended that a Mayor's
Proclamation be issued on behalf of the Euless Preservation
Committee.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 12:05 P.M.
