February 10, 1997
The February 10, 1997 meeting of Euless Historical
Preservation Committee was called to order by Chairman Troy
Fuller at 10: 15 a.m. in Conference Room #1 , Building A.
Members Present
Willie Mae McCormick, Iva Nail , Robert Nail , Evelyn Himes,
Diana Crawford, Weldon Cannon, Billy Byers, Jean Whitener, Helen
Payton and Troy Fuller
Staff Members Present
Director of Community Services Rick Herold, Projects
Supervisor Ray McDonald and Parks and Leisure Services Manager

Approval of Minutes
Minutes of the January 20, 1996 meeting were approved as
presented.
I. Old Business
A. Comments on Historical Marker Dedication
1 . Members expressed disappointment in lack of
participation by city managers and staff.
2. Disappointment in lead-up press coverage. Weldon,
Patty and Diana prepared press releases. Releases were
not used in newspapers.
3 . Diana Crawford expressed thanks to Rick Herold and
Johnnie Green for work on Historical Marker, Julia
Wakeley, Anicia Wiltshire and Tim Rolen for their work
on the reception, David Allen for doing the program for
the dedication, Rick Maldonado for video taping the
dedication and Betty Yarbrough for use of the library.
4 . Jean Whitener counted 82 people that signed the guest
book.
B. Fuller House Update
1. Billy Byers will talk with electrician and ask that he
complete wiring in the kitchen.
2. Outside doors are here but not installed yet.

3 . Robert Nail and Bill Byers have been working on kitchen
cabinets for two weeks. The cabinets are almost
complete.
4. Committee decided the walk behind the cabinets should
be painted rather than papered.
5. Iva Nail and Helen Payton will look for electric range
and refrigerator.
6 . All sheetrock has been removed from inside of the
house.
7. Flowers Construction will install the gas line as a
donation.
8. The yard needs more dirt before landscaping begins.
9. Diana Crawford will look at archives in Fort Worth to
get ideas for display cases for museum.
10. Billy Byers has bids for sheetrocking and papering.
C. Group Participation in Morris Estates Bare Bones Open House
Chairman Fuller will check with Robin Reynolds, Fort
Worth Historical Society, to see how the Euless committee
can help with the Bare Bones party on February 21 , 1997 .
D. Member Reports on Estimated Completion of Individual
Projects
1. Chairman Fuller plans to meet with Deacon Family within
next month.
2 . Diana Crawford will report on museum ideas next month.
3 . Jean Whitener will have photograph book at the May
meeting.
4 . Weldon Cannon will resume working on Methodist Church
historical marker.
5. Chairman Fuller reported Gene Schrickle is working on
some plans for the Weisenbacker property.
II. New Business
1. 1998 will be 150th birthday of Elisha Adam Euless. The
committee might want to plan something special.
2 . Committee will discuss donating a book to Geneology in
memory of Nina Winters at next meeting.
3 . Mrs. McCormick brought tapes made in 1975 and 1976 by
Jane McCray (who formerly lived in Morrisdale and
worked for newspaper) of interviews with W. G. Fuller,
Warren Fuller, George Winters, Jerry Prather, W. M.
(Dub) Hurst and Donna Cannon.
4. The Cramer House (Ten oaks) was bulldozed. Harvey
Little brought a log that was a floor joint in the
house and an iron gate to Billy Byers.
5 . Weldon Cannon called attention to an article in Mid-
Cities News about the City of Hurst budgeting $14,000

for a company to video document history of Hurst.
6 . Chairman Fuller will contact Geri Donworth about Taco
Bell donating food for Arbor Daze. The Committee
discussed options if Taco Bell does not participate.
Option suggested was fried pies.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m. .
