Minutes
April 14, 1997
The April 14 , 1997 meeting of Euless Historical Preservation
Committee was called to order by Chairman Troy Fuller at 10: 10
a.m. in Conference Room #1, Building A.
Members Present
Willie Mae McCormick, Vada Johnson, Evelyn Himes, Iva Nail,
Diana Crawford, Billy Byers, Mazie Eden, Jean Whitener, Geri
Sorg, Weldon Cannon, Robert Nail, Helen Payton and Troy Fuller
Approval of Minutes
Minutes of the March 10, 1997 meeting were approved as
presented.
I. Old Business
A. Fuller House Update
1. Dirt has been hauled in to level the yard.
2 . Robert Nail and Bill Byers worked at the Fuller House
on Thursday and Friday installing cabinets on the south
wall. The kitchen has been taped, bedded and textured
and is ready to be painted. Committee agreed to delay
painting until other work in the house is completed.
Cabinets will be painted white, ceiling will be off
white.
3 . The gas line is to be installed the week of April 14.
B. Arbor Daze
1. The committee will be selling Mindy Lee's fried pies.
Pies will cost 35 cents each, we will have ten flavors
and sell for $1.00. Pies not sold cannot be returned.
Jimmy Payton has volunteered to purchase all pies not
sold for 50 cents each and pies will be donated to
meals on wheels.
2. Committee will also be selling Frito Pies for $1.00.
After donations of chili from Mrs. McCormick, spoons
and napkins from Whataburger, onions from Harrington
Produce, Fritos from Tom Thumb and Frito Lay, the cost
of pies will be 11 cents for cheese.
Troy Fuller will purchase chili and cheese from Sam's.
Chili will be frozen in five pound buckets. Unused
frozen chili may be returned.
3 . Committee volunteers will set up booth at 9:00 a.m.
Thursday.
4. Iva Nail will have sign-up sheet for volunteer workers.

C. Morrisdale Farm
1. Chairman Fuller sent a letter to all members
regarding the Morrisdale Farm open house. The
telephone number for Jennifer Halbrook, coordinator of
volunteers, should be corrected. The correct number is
268-0540. The gala is Friday, April 25th and costs
$50.00 per person. Call Susan Frost at 654-1912 for
tickets.
2. Jean Whitener has volunteered to work two days as a
docent.
II. New Business
A. Deacon House
Chairman Fuller had the opportunity to talk with Bill Deacon
of Grapevine about the Deacon House. This house was built
in 1918 by the Deacon family after a tornado destroyed a
house at this location. This house is currently being
rented. Chairman Fuller asked Mr. Deacon about donating the
house and one acre of land for a mini-park. Mr. Deacon is
in the process of building a shopping center at this site
within the next year. He has offered to have the house
moved to another location. Mrs. McCormick suggested
notifying the City Council about this offer. Chairman
Fuller will follow up.
B. Wisenbacker Property
Chairman Fuller has given maps and talked to Gene Schrickel,
land planner, about this property.
C. Calloway Cemetery
Weldon Cannon has done a tracing of the William Trigg and
Mary A. Trigg tombstones that have been broken by vandals.
