HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-05-12 Euless Historical Preservation Committee Minutes May 12, 1997 The May 12 , 1997 meeting of Euless Historical Preservation Committee was called to order by Chairman Troy Fuller at 10:15 a.m. in the large conference room, Library, 201 N. Ector Drive. Members Present Troy Fuller, Vada Johnson, Willie Mae McCormick, Bill Byers, Jean Whitener, Geri Sorg, Evelyn Himes, Iva Nail, Weldon Cannon and Helen Payton Guest Present Councilman Leon Hogg Staff Present Project Supervisor Ray McDonald Approval of Minutes Minutes of the April 14, 1997 meeting were approved as presented. I. Old Business A. Chairman Fuller distributed a report on Arbor Daze, copy attached. A disappointing profit of 77 cents was made during Arbor Daze. After donations from Payton Wright Ford, Willie Mae McCormick, sale of pies to public, 77 cents profit, total sales from profit and donations was $997.39. B. Fuller House Update a. Billy Byers has contacted the electrician - electrical needs to be completed before more sheetrocking can be done. Billy will try to get someone to complete electrical as soon as possible. b. Gas line has been installed. c. Cabinets are all installed. d. Billy Byers has talked to Johnnie Green and his people will try to get dirt moved and the yard leveled as soon as possible. e. The committee is estimating a September completion date. EHPC Mtg. 051297 page 2 C. Deacon House Chairman Fuller is appearing before the City Council on Tuesday regarding moving the Deacon House. It has been suggested that one location be chosen for historic houses (Fuller House, Himes House, Deacon House. ) II. New Business A. A letter has been received from the street naming committee to consider asking the cities of Euless and Grapevine to name a portion of Highway 360 Martin Luther King Blvd. Committee agreed that since this was not of historical significance, this should be the responsibility of the street naming committee. B. Robert Nail suggested getting a designation for historical houses in Euless. Houses might not qualify for state designation but would qualify for city markers. The committee suggested having a contest to design a marker for the houses. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m. .
