MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY,NOVEMBER 7, 2019
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Snitz at
6:57 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019, in the Board Room of the Library, 1100 Westpark
Way. Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz, Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs, Board
Members Chris McAllister, Jim Hamilton, Mike McGehee, and Leslie Kane.

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meetings held August 1,
September 5, and October 3, 2019. The motion was made by Vice Chairman Gibbs and seconded
by Board Member Kane.
ITEM NO. 3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors that were present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
❖ Introduce—Librarian Assistant: Youth Department
Senior Librarian Kelsea Ciavaglia introduced Gabrielle Salamone, recently hired as librarian
assistant for the youth department. Ms. Salamone gave a brief overview of her work history and
personal life.
❖ Construction Update
Ms. Ciavaglia gave an update on the progress of the construction of the library and showed the
latest drone video. Ms. Ciavaglia infoiiiied the Board of the plans for a meeting in December to
take a tour of the building.

Ms. Ciavaglia gave an overview of the passive program"International Games Month"which grew
from "International Games Week". Ms. Ciavaglia also discussed the social media event
"Dinovember,"the Library's holiday closings, and answered questions from the Board regarding
the statistics report.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Mr. Snitz asked about the Library's involvement in the City Parade and Ms. Ciavaglia informed
the Board that the Library is taking the Think Tank and that Board members were welcome to join.
Mr. Snitz asked about the turnout of Trunk or Treat, and Ms. Ciavaglia gave a brief update on its
success with over 1,000 children attending.
Mr. Snitz announced the death of Betty Fuller and discussed her contributions to the City of Euless
and inquired about interest in new members joining the Board and Ms. Ciavaglia let them know
that four people had applied.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs announced that the November Euless Library Foundation meeting has been
rescheduled for November 14 and the December meeting has been cancelled.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
LuAnn Portugal of Euless, TX voiced concerns over losing people from Simmons when Ector is
re-opened and Angela Jones, Senior Librarian Youth Services, stated that she feels that the Family
Place customer service model of making relationships will cause patrons to move with the
programs wherever they are held. Ms. Jones also discussed the Library's social media following
by regular patron families and how the Library calendar will aid in communicating Library
opening and information.
Mr. Gibbs suggested that we survey the families at Simmons Center so that we could get their
input and invite them to the Library opening.

Chairman Snitz adjourned the meeting at 7:27 p.m.
