Euless Historical Preservation Committee
Minutes
April 13, 1998
The April 13 , 1998 meeting of the Euless Historical
Preservation Committee was called to order by Chairman Troy
Fuller at 10:05 a.m. in the Conference Room #1, Building A, 201
North Ector Drive.
Members Present
Willie Mae McCormick, Vada Johnson, Weldon Cannon, Betty
Fuller, Evelyn Himes, Iva Nail, Helen Lightbody, Robert Nail,
Jean Whitener, Nell Hicks, Billy Byers, Don Ward, Helen Payton
and Troy Fuller
Staff Present
Parks and Leisure Services Manager Julia Wakeley
Visitor Present
Jan Hakes
Approval of Minutes
Typographical error corrected to read "Troy will investigate
if funding is available for more signs. (C. New Historical Marker

I. Old Business
A. Fuller House Update
1. Original medicine cabinet has been installed.
2 . Threshold has been installed.
3 . Vents have been painted and installed.
4 . Robert and Iva have installed curtains.
5. Robert and Iva have hung watercolor painting of Fuller
House above fireplace.
6. Iva purchased table and chairs for breakfast area.
7. Refrigerator purchased from Hurst TV has been delivered
and installed.
8. The front sidewalk has been completed.
9. Discussed landscaping and sprinkler system. Two bids
for landscaping $14,723.00 and $1425.00 were received.
Committee will discuss further and check with City to
see if some help might be available.
10. Julia Wakeley will request that dumpsters be moved to
back of Ruth Millican.
11 . Jan- Hakes volunteered to prepare flyer for presentation
at open house to interest people in becoming members of
the Historical Foundation.

B. Star Telegram Northeast Tarrant County Meeting
Weldon Cannon and Troy Fuller attended the meeting in
Grapevine. Weldon gave presentation on Euless. Other
cities gave presentations, plans are to have more meetings
to discuss local histories.
C. June 6th Open House
1. Committee members are reviewing invitation list.
Copies of the list will be sent to all members for
reviewing and updating. About 200 names are no on the
list.
2. Member Melissa Stone is working to hand address the
invitations.
3 . Julia Wakeley presented information for plaque to be
placed at the Fuller House.
D. Historical Marker Update
Effective September 1, the State of Texas will have new
specifications for signs on freeways. Information will be
presented at that time.
III. New Business
Weldon Cannon will be presenting "A Business History of
Bedford" at the Old Bedford School, Thursday, April 23rd at 7:00
pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 11: 30 a.m. .
