HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-09-14 v4 14'71( ) Euless Historical Preservation Committee Minutes September 14, 1998 The September 14 , 1998 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee was called to order by Vice Chairman Bill Byers at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room #1, Building A, 201 North Ector Drive. Members Present Willie Mae McCormick, Vada Johnson, Nell Hicks, Weldon Cannon, Helen Lightbody, Jean Whitener, Don Tharp, Helen Payton and Bill Byers Approval of Minutes Minutes of June 8 , 1998 meeting were approved as presented. I. Old Business A. Fuller House 1. "Rules and Regulations" , "Parks Department Recommendations to Council" and "Update from Julia Wakeley" not available- no members from staff were present at the meeting. 2. Historical Committee delayed plans for an Open House in October. 3 . The Trailwood Garden Club of Euless has expressed an interest in meeting and touring the Fuller House in October. The Historical Committee agreed that special groups and non-profit organizations (subject to approval) should be allowed to use the Fuller House at no fee so that residents may become aware of the facilities available. Nell Hicks, a member of the Garden Club and the Historical Committee will contact Julia Wakeley and work out details for this meeting. II. New Business A. September 12 Open House i . Approximately 30 people attended the September 12th Open House on a very rainy day. Jean Whitener has orders for five photos from people attending the Open House. 2. Several new items have been added to the museum. B. Other New Business 1. Weldon Cannon and wife Patty have presented an outline for a program regarding the Mid-Cities area to the Texas State Historical Association. The program has EHPC Mtg. 091498 page 2 been approved and will be presented at the State meeting in Dallas in March. Members of the Euless Committee have expressed interest in attending this meeting as a group. Weldon will give more details on date and time when available. 2. Chairman Fuller reported by memo that the City is not interested in purchasing the Himes property for a park but might be interested in moving the log house to Millican Park.
