Euless Historical Preservation Committee
Minutes
February 8, 1999
The February 8, 1999 meeting of the Euless Historical
Preservation Committee was called to order by Chairman Bill Byers
at 10 : 10 a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive .
Members Present
Weldon Cannon, Vada Johnson, Betty Fuller, Jean Whitener, Nell
Hicks, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Evelyn Himes, Don Tharp, Helen
Lightbody, Helen Payton and Bill Byers
Staff Present
Leisure Services Manager Julia Wakeley
Approval of Minutes
Motion was made by Betty Fuller and seconded by Iva Nail to
approve the minutes of the January 18, 1999 minutes as presented.
Motion passed.
I . Old Business
A. Himes House
1 . Bill Byers has asked City Manager Joe Hennig about
funds for moving the Himes House. Mr. Hennig will
discuss subject at the next city workshop meeting.
2 . Weldon Cannon has documented a two-page history of the
Himes House. This property was purchased from Adam
Euless .
B. Fuller House
1 . Evelyn Himes and Jean Whitener are volunteers for the
March 14, 1999 open house.
2 . State Representative Todd Smith is preparing
information to get a proclamation about the Fuller
House passed through the House of Representatives .
3 . Julia Wakeley reported the Fire Chief has raised the
occupancy rate to 32 for the Fuller House . A
certificate stating number will be posted.
4 . Bill and Boyce Byers have a Philco radio that belonged
to the Fullers that they will loan to the Fuller House.
5. Robert Nail has completed restoring the wall telephone
on loan from Marge Crow.
II. New Business
A. Taco Bell
Robert Nail has contacted the manager of Taco Bell about the
possibility of donating a VCR for the Fuller House .
B. Report from Staff
1 . Julia Wakeley reported the Fuller House had its first
rental January 21st to ladies of the Greek Orthodox
Church for a reception.
2 . The City is looking for someone to clean Fuller House.
3 . Water Department will print open house information on
February water bills .
C. Other New Business
1 . Betty Fuller has purchased and donated two scrapbooks
for newspaper articles
2 . Weldon Cannon has suggested that it would be a good
idea for members to meet and visit with the new library
director and invite her to the April Meeting.
3. The March 8, 1999 meeting will be at the home of Willie
Mae McCormick' s daughter, Elizabeth Wilcox, 2303 North
Main, Euless . Mrs . McCormick has suggested coming
early for those who wished to look at the books .
(Meeting changed from February because of the death of
Mrs. McCormick' s brother. )
