Euless Historical Preservation Committee
Minutes
May 10, 1999
The May 10, 1999 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation
Committee was called to order by Chairman Billy Byers at 10: 15
a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive.
Members Present
Vada Johnson, Weldon Cannon, Helen Lightbody, Nell Hicks, Troy
Fuller, Betty Fuller, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Jean Whitener,
Willie Mae McCormick, Evelyn Himes, Don Tharp, Helen Payton and
Bill Byers
Staff Present
Julia Wakeley, Parks & Leisure Services Manager
Approval of Minutes
Motion was made by Troy Fuller and seconded by Vada Johnson to
approve the minutes of the April 12, 1999 meeting. Motion
carried.
I. Old Business
A. Fuller House
1 . Robert and Iva Nail worked as docents at the Fuller
House on May 9. They reported 10 visitors toured the
house.
2 . The following members have volunteered to be docents
July through October:
July 10 - Helen Payton, Betty Fuller
August 14 - Jean Whitener, Helen Lightbody
Sept. 11 - Bill Byers, Weldon Cannon
Oct. 9 - Troy Fuller
3 . Troy Fuller has donated a picture of his parents
(Warren & Jessie Fuller) made in 1925 or 1926. Picture
is to be placed above the player piano. The player
piano was in the Warren Fuller Home and was donated to
the Fuller House by Troy and his sister, Veta Boswell.
4 . Troy Fuller is also donating charge books in a case
from the Fuller Bros. & Nail Grocery Store.
5. Diana Crawford, Bill Byers and a member of the city
staff are checking to see if the computer at Western
EHPC 051099 Mtg.

American Bank is compatible with our needs.
6. The Parks Dept has made and placed a sign in the front
of the Fuller House. Historical Committee has
requested a similar sign (poster) to be placed in the
library.
7. Diana Crawford and Julia Wakeley have the necessary
information and are preparing a form letter for the
donation/loan of historical artifacts to the Fuller
House.
B. Himes House
A letter was mailed to City Manager Joe Hennig regarding the
Himes House, documented by Weldon Cannon stating the
importance of preserving the property. Historical Committee
would prefer buying the property, if not feasible, would
like to purchase the house to be moved. Chairman Byers has
not had an opportunity to talk with the City Manager
regarding the letter.
II. New Business
1 . Weldon Cannon has met with Jenny Kratz regarding a
brochure with history advertising the Fuller House &
Museum. Brochure is to be compatible with other city
literature and available at the library, Texas Star and
the Fuller House & Museum. Weldon hopes to have
information at the June Meeting.
2 . Weldon Cannon has met with Joann Rogers of the Euless
Library, with regard to using library facilities for
paper materials with Euless history. Weldon has
suggested having two copies of all articles, one for
public use and one for archive use. Betty Fuller has
volunteered to go through newspapers and snip all
articles regarding Euless. Betty Wi811 check with
Susan Crim for old articles and the library for a place
to store them.
3. The Horace Fuller house on Main Street, built in 1932-
33 has been sold. People purchasing the house plan to
restore it to its original condition and use as an
office. Purchasers will be requesting a specific use
zoning. Troy Fuller made a motion, Robert Nail
seconded, to write a letter to the Planning and Zoning
Board expressing the desire of the Historical Committee
to have this zoning approved. Motion carried. Betty
Fuller volunteered to write the letter.
4. Willie Mae McCormick made a motion, Iva Nail seconded,
that the Historical Committee not meet in July and
August. Motion Carried. Next Meeting will be
September 13, 1999.
