Minutes
June 21, 1999
The June 21, 1999 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation
Committee was called to order by Chairman Billy Byers at 10 : 15
a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive.
Members Present
Evelyn Himes, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Jean Whitener, Willie Mae
McCormick, Don Tharp, Diana Crawford, Nell Hicks, Helen Payton
and Billy Byers .
Staff Present
Anicia Brown, Leisure Services Tech.
Approval of Minutes
Motion was made by Robert Nail to approve the minutes of the May
10, 1999 meeting as presented. Motion was seconded by Willie Mae
McCormick and motion passed.
I. Old Business
A. Himes House
1 . Billy Byers read a letter from Mayor Mary Lib Saleh
stating that the city does not have funds to purchase
land and the Himes House.
2 . Bill Byers will get the price for moving the Himes
House to Ruth Millican Park.
3 . Committee discussed various possibilities of getting
grants for this project.
4 . Don Tharp will check on possible grants for this
project and report at the September meeting.
B. Fuller House
1 . Committee looked at sample brochure of the Fuller House
being prepared by Weldon Cannon. Robert Nail suggested
using a current picture of the house for the front of
the brochure.
2 . Committee agreed that the reception area should include
the living room, kitchen and front bedroom. Robert
Nail and Billy Byers will measure square footage
information for the brochure.
3. Fuller house needs to be exterminated. Anicia Brown
will check with Rick Herold about getting house

exterminated on a regular basis .
4 . Something is needed to keep birds from nesting in the
chimney.
5. Fifteen visitors toured the Fuller House at the June
Open House.
6. The back gate to the Fuller House needs to be adjusted.
Bill Byers will handle this .
7 . Anicia Brown will check on plaques to "welcome" guests
for back doors of Fuller House.
8 . Helen Payton and Betty Fuller will be docents in July.
9. Diana Crawford suggested having a work day to do
inventory, identify and number everything in the Fuller
House. Work day will be June 30, 1999 at 10: 00 a.m.
II . New Business
A. Computer
1 . Rick Maldonado has bids, Julia has prices and will be
looking for a computer. David Allen will be compiling
information for the computer.
2 . Anicia Brown brought old maps from city for museum.
3 . Billy Byers announced that plans are being made to have
a reunion for all students that attended the old Euless
school . The reunion will be may 6, 2000 at the First
United Methodist Church of Euless . Attendees will be
asked to bring old photos for the Historical Committee
books .
4 . Committee complimented Jean Whitener on photo albums .
Adjournment
Diana Crawford made the motion to adjourn meeting at 11 : 20 a.m. ,
seconded by Evelyn Himes . Meeting adjourned.
