Minutes
September 13, 1999
The September 13, 1999 meeting of the Euless Historical
Preservation Committee was called to order by Chairman Billy
Byers at 10: 10 a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive.
Members Present
Billy Byers, Weldon Cannon, Diana Crawford, Evelyn Himes, Vada
Johnson, Willie Mae McCormick, Helen Payton, Don Tharp and Jean
Whitener
Staff Present
Julia Wakeley, Parks and Leisure Services Manager
Gary McKamie, Deputy City Manager
Andrea Baxter, Director of Economic Development
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Willie Mae McCormick to approve minutes of
the June 21, 1999 meeting. Evelyn Himes seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
I . Old Business
A. Fuller House
1 . The Committee reviewed the brochure being prepared on
the Fuller house. The Committee agreed that the
brochure should include a recent photo of the house, a
small map, square footage, web page and number to call
for information about the house. Gary McKamie
volunteered to help get information to Jenny Kratz
before the deadline of October 25th.
2 . Julia Wakeley gave members a report from the Finance
Department of the Fuller House Budget and
contributions. The total balance is $8, 385. 00
3 . The Historical Committee had a workday at the Fuller
House on June 30, 1999 to inventory and identify items.
Another workday is planned for September 29, 1999.

4 . Julia Wakeley is still trying to find a reputable
person to clean the Fuller House.
5. David Allen and Julia Wakeley are working on the
computer.
6. Weldon Cannon is working with Iva Nail to prepare a
flyer about the Fuller Family to be given to people

visiting the Fuller House.
7 . Weldon Cannon and Billy Byers were docents at the
Fuller House in September, sixteen visitors toured the
house.
B. Himes House
Don Tharp received information from the Texas Historical
Commission about applying for grants . Applications for
grants must be received by the Commission by September 1 .
The Himes House would not be eligible for a grant if moved
from present location.
II . New Business
A. Mrs . McCormick suggested that the Historical Committee work
with Jo Ann Rogers, Library Manager, in displaying some of
the items from the museum in the library locked cases .
B. Weldon Cannon gave members a copy of a survey map of Euless
made about 1925-30 . Weldon also gave articles about Euless
citizens from the Arlington Journal dated April 30, 1915.
Adjournment
Don Tharp made the motion to adjourn meeting at 11 :20 a.m. ,
seconded by Jean Whitener. Meeting adjourned.
