Euless Historical Preservation Committee
Minutes
March 13, 2000
The March 13, 2000 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation
Committee was called to order by Chairman Bill Byers at 10 : 05
a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive .
Members Present
Michele Burger, Bill Byers, Weldon Cannon, Betty Fuller, Troy
Fuller, Evelyn Himes, Vada Johnson, Willie Mae McCormick, Iva
Nail, Robert Nail, Helen Payton, Don Tharp, Jean Whitener
Staff Present
Rick Herold, Director of Parks and Community Services
Guests Present
Emily Pryor, student at UTA doing a paper on the City of Euless
Boyce Byers, member of the Parks and Recreation Board
Approval of Minutes
Betty Fuller made a motion, Iva Nail seconded to approve the
minutes of the February 14, 2000 meeting after correction was
made to show members Don Tharp and Helen Payton present and a
wedding shower was held at the Fuller House on February 6th.
I. Old Business
A. Himes House
1 . Troy Fuller presented a bid from Bill Marquis for
moving and restoration of the Himes House (copy of bid
attached. ) Troy has also requested a bid from a man in
Hico.
2 . Committee discussed building a pavilion similar to the
one at Chinns Chapel to preserve the log house.
3 . A request will be made to the City Council to budget
funds for the Historical Committee in next year' s
budget.
4 . Robert Nail made a motion, seconded by Don Tharp to
delay final decision on the Himes House until the next
meeting at which time another bid should be available.
Motion carried.
5. Arrangements have been made for a bus to take the
members to Chinns Chapel to view the log house restored
by Bill Marquis . Bus will leave at 11 : 00 a.m.

B. Fuller House
1 . A recommendation was made to finish the upstairs in the
Fuller House .
2 . Troy Fuller has checked with the Texas State Historical
Society and it will not be necessary to put an elevator
in the house .
3 . There is $8, 386 in the Historical account that could be
used for this project.
4 . Troy Fuller made a motion recommending that the
upstairs in the Fuller House be restored. Robert Nail
seconded, motion carried.
II. Other Business
1 . Rick Herold provided a form from the Bedford Historical
Foundation regarding gifts and donors . Members are to
review forms to determine suitability for Fuller House
Museum.
2 . Historical Committee member Nell Hicks has been in
Grapevine Hospital . Nell is being moved to HEB
Hospital for therapy.
3 . Farewell party for Julia Wakeley on March 17th from 4
to 6 p.m. with a presentation at 5 : 15 p.m.
4 . Betty Fuller will check with principal at South Euless
Elementary for information regarding dedication of new
school .
5. Weldon Cannon and wife, Patty, attended Texas State
historical meeting in Austin. Weldon gave members
handouts and reported on presentations from Plano and
Farmers Branch.
6. Reunion of Old South Euless school will be May 6.
Fuller House will be open during reunion. Bill Byers
asked for volunteers to be docents during open house .
