Euless Historical Preservation Committee
Minutes
June 12, 2000
The June 12, 2000 meeting of the Euless Historical Preservation
Committee was called to order by Chairman Bill Byers at 10 : 15
a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive.
Members Present
Betty Fuller, Weldon Cannon, Troy Fuller, Helen Payton, Willa Mae
McCormick, Michelle Burger, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Don Tharp,
Jean Whitener, Billy Byers and Helen Lightbody
Staff Present
Glenda Hartsell - Special Events Coordinator
Johnnie Green - Parks Superintendent
Approval of Minutes
Troy Fuller made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 8
meeting and it was seconded by Helen Payton. Motion passed.
I. Old Business
A. Chairman Bill Byers Reported:
1 . The Library Foundaiton and the Parks and Leisure
Services Department are having a meeting July 10, 2000
at 7 : 00 p.m. at the Library. Billy Martin will be
available to give information on the Himes House .
Another meeting will be held later inviting the
Community. Betty Fuller will bring a tape recorder for
the evening session.
2 . Bids were submitted on the fence around the Himes
House, which will be an extension of the existing fence
of the Fuller House to the south side of the Himes
House. Discussion was held regarding necessary
requirements for paint, security system, lighting,
wiring, etc. Betty Fuller suggested the accommodations
be made for fans to be used by docents .
3 . The roof of the log cabin is not waterproof and a cover
is necessary for preservation and protection of the
chimney, sticks and mud and also to provide shelter for
picnic tables . Robert Nail made a motion that we
recommend to the Ciy that a cover be puut on it now to
preserve it for the next 50 years . Troy Fuller
seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
4 . Sales tax that funds our Crime Prevention Control
District is up for renewal. The election for this is
August 12th with early voting from July 26th through
August 8th. It will be renewed to continue for the

next 20 years.
5. Weldon Cannon brought a book of the 1850' s, which
contained copies of old surveys, the church at Mosier
Valley, and a Bedford history. He is working on a
history of Euless .
6. The organ has been installed at the Fuller House. A
wheelchair is being cleaned, etc. , that belonged to Ray
Fitch' s grandfather. Martha is wrting a papter on it.
In conjunction with this, Troy Fuller recommended that
we get more groups to visit the Fuller House. When
people visit and see the house, they remember some
items that could be donated to the Fuller Museum.
Betty Fuller was assigned to contact Rob Pirtle at 501
Dunaway regarding items he indicated he may donate to
the Fuller Museum.
7 . Diana Crawford is working files for donations and will
have them ready by next year.
8 . Glenda Hartsell was asked to remind Rick Herold for the
Form he was to provide for use on donations and loans
to the museum.
B. Maintaining accounts to be handled by the Euless
Historical Preservation Committee:
Bill Byers mentioned that the City would like this Committee
to open their own account when funds are turned over to us .
The City is working on teir new 2001 Budget . Fiscal Year
starts Oct . 1 .
A Budget Committee was appointed by Bill Byers consisting of
the following: Troy Fuller, Julia Wakeley, Helen Payton and
Bill Byers . This should be accomplished by June 26. It is
also recommended that a longterm budget for five years be
considered.
Robert Nail was elected for the position of Treasurer of
this Committee.
Troy Fuller suggested that Johnnie Green get a sign for the
Himes House and that lights should be spaced evenly across
the fenced area.

The meeting was adjourned at 11 : 45 a.m.
