HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-09-11 Euless Historical Preservation Committee Minutes September 11, 2000 Members of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee met at 10 : 00 a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive . Members Present Vada Johnson, Helen Payton, Troy Fuller, Julia Wakeley, Michelle Burger, Nell Hicks, Evelyn Himes, Betty Fuller, Helen Lightbody, Bill Byers Staff Present Glenda Hartsell - Special Events Coordinator Gary McKamie - Assistant City Manager Gary McKamie toured the members through the Himes House. Committee members were very pleased with the finished project. Discussion was held relative to future needs of additional furniture and items that would add to the completion of the project . Approval of Minutes Bill Byers, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 10 : 40 a.m. Helen Payton made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 12th meeting. Nell Hicks seconded the motion and the motion passed. I . Himes House Bill Byers reviewed with the Committee the items we need to work on, which includes a "wish list" for loans and contributions, i .e . rag rug, etc. Glenda Hartsell presented a form to be used to register the items donated as gifts or on loan to the Fuller House and Himes House . A recommendation on the form was to refer to the Committee as the City of Euless Historical Preservation Committee. Chairman Byers has opened a bank account to accommodate the Committee' s funds that were turned over to us by the City. The account is in the name of Bill Byers, also known as Euless Historical Preservation Committee . Robert Nail is the official Treasurer for the Committee . Bill mentioned that we now have an 1862 dictionary and we could use an old Bible . We are cautioned not to clutter too many items in the Himes House. Diana Crawford is working on labeling the items . EHPC 091100 Mtg. Page 1 It was recommended by Betty Fuller that the 5th graders be invited to tour the House . Docents for October 14th will be the Troy Fullers . Troy requested that trash cans and lighting be installed. He also recommended that we get a fire extinguisher. Glenda Hartsell suggested a joint Xmas program for December 8th, which would include a Chili Dinner, tour of the Fuller and Himes Houses and ending up at the Millican Center. A Christmas committee was set up with volunteers including: Betty Fuller, Julia Wakeley, Helen Lightbody, Helen Payton, Vada Johnson and Michelle Burger. Adjournment A motion was made by Helen Payton to adjourn the meeting and seconded by Nell Hicks .
