Minutes
October 9, 2000
Members of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee net at
10 : 00 a.m. at the Fuller House, 203 Cullum Drive.
Members Present
Willa Mae McCormick, Vada Johnson, Troy Fuller, Michelle Burger,
Nell Hicks, Weldon Cannon, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Jean Whitener,
Bill Byers, Evelyn Himes, Don Tharp, Helen Lightbody
Staff Present
Glenda Hartsell - Special Events Coordinator
Gary McKamie - Assistant City Manager
Guest Present
Councilmember Leon Hogg, Jamie Gresham, Bill Marquis
Chairman Bill Byers called the meeting to order at 10 : 00 a.m.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the meeting held September 11, 2000 were approved.
Old Business
Bill Marquis related to the Committee his recent findings on the
background of history in Tarrant County, etc. He talked about
John Peter Smith surveying in the 1890' s and John Bird' s Fort .
The proper reference to the log cabin would be "Himes Log House . "
New Business :
Glenda Hartsell discussed with the Committee the Christmas
proposal for December 9`h. They discussed with Bill Marquis his
recommendations for the proper Christmas mode (candles, period
clothing, hand-made baskets and similar items . ) Of prime concern
is, while keeping the theme, needing to be sure it is presented
safely.
Weldon Cannon mentioned his recent visit to Tennessee and other
interesting information.
Committee members discussed the open house and Reunion at the
South Euless Elementary School . Those who attended indicated it
was well planned and attended by many. All ages were
represented. The lunch served was by the DADS. They did a super
job and took care of a large group of people . Betty Fuller took
the Boy Scouts to visit the Fuller House. An effort will be made

to get the organ fixed in the Fuller House.
Betty Fuller, Troy Fuller, Helen Lightbody and Robert Nail have
shown interest in working on the computer.
Betty Fuller will be docent for the Fuller House in November.
Adjournment
Evelyn Himes made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Weldon Cannon
seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 12 : 00 p.m.
