Weldon Cannon made a motion, seconded by Jean Whitener, to approve the minutes of the November
12, 2001 meeting. Motion passed.
Old Business
1. Chairman Bill Byers wrote letters to Congresswoman Kay Granger and State Representative
Todd Smith requesting flags for display at the Fuller House and Himes Log House. Todd
Smith sent a flag and Bill purchased a 4X6 foot flag and they are both currently displayed at
the houses.
2. Treasurer Robert Nail was not present at the meeting to give his report due to the death of Mr.
Gresham, his neighbor.
3. Bill mentioned that lights have been ordered for the Fuller House.
4. The Heritage Park Christmas Program was discussed. There were approximately 85 to 135
visitors touring the two houses. Approximately 1000 participated in the overall activity. The
performance by the Tongan Choir was very good.
5. Weldon Cannon informed the Committee of the collection of photographs the Fort Worth Star

Telegram maintains. Some go back as far as the year 1930. After the necessary paperwork
and proper procedures, he can select and purchase pictures that would be worthwhile to the
history of the Fuller and Himes Log houses.
6. Discussion was held relative to the Calloway Cemetery. Troy Fuller researched methods of
preserving cemeteries, getting markers, etc. He finds that it is very costly. He suggested that
we look into the possibility of incorporating the Cemetery into the City. If incorporated in a
City, it would provide special benefits, which currently are not available.
7. Chairman Byers requested that we write a letter of thanks to Ms. June Gresham for the
assistance, time and work she provided to input the many items into the computer for the
Committee. We were all saddened to learned of the death of her husband.
8. Chairman Byers and Betty Fuller have volunteered to provide and complete the necessary
information of items loaned or donated to the two houses. These will be maintained on the
computer for future reference.
New Business
1. Michelle Burger passed out some material entitled "Visionaries in Preservation Program and
Application Guidelines." The recent application deadline was December 14, 2001, which
would have been difficult to meet. Rick Herold suggested that we wait for the next application
deadline in May 2002. Deadlines will be six months thereafter in May and November.
2. Rick Herold will be looking into part-time employee to keep the houses open for visitors on a
regular basis. He mentioned that the current budget did allow for cleaning the houses. The
City budget for Year 2002 may provide for a part-time employee to keep the houses open for
visitors for four or five hours a week.
3. Glenda Hartsell commented that people were very receptive to the Heritage Park Christmas
Program. She mentioned the Holiday Ice Fest coming up with activities on both rinks;
Starlight hayrides and free ice-skating.
4. Rick Herold reminded the Committee of the New Year's Eve event at the Texas Star with
entertainment being provided by Trout Fishing.
5. Betty Fuller will get with the school administration regarding the visit to Fuller House and
Rimes Log House by third graders in February 2002.
6. Docents for January 12 will be Jean Whitener and Helen Payton. Docents for February will be
Vada Johnson and Betty Fuller.
