Minutes
September 9, 2002
Call to Order
Chairman Bill Byers called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
Members Present
Troy Fuller, Michele Burger, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Weldon Cannon, Vada Johnson, Willie Mae
McCormick, Ralph Williamson, Jean Whitener, Evelyn Himes, Bill Byers and Helen Lightbody.
Staff Present
Glenda Hartsell-Shelton, Special Events Coordinator.
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer Robert Nail reported that we have a balance of$3869.85 and he currently has a bill for
$54.93 from Troy Fuller.
Approval of Minutes
Troy Fuller made the motion to approve the minutes of the June 10, 2002 meeting. Jean Whitener
seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Old Business
1. 50th Anniversary- City of Euless
a. Glenda Hartsell-Shelton reported that there will be a reception at 2:00pm on
December 14th. This will include past mayors and council members who have
been a part of the history of Euless. The Mayor has asked the Historical
Preservation Committee to host this reception. Glenda Hartsell-Shelton asked the
committee to have suggestions on what we would like to do for the next meeting.
b. Fuller House &Himes Log Cabin will be opened for viewing and free activities for
families will be offered.
c. Discussion was held on what the Committee would provide in the way of a
presentation for this occasion. The presentation made by Weldon Cannon to the
committee will be presented at this time.

2. - MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ARE ASKED TO BRING PICTURES TO OUR NEXT
MEETING OF BUILDINGS AND ITEMS OF INTEREST. THESE WILL BE GIVEN TO
LORI DE LA CRUZ AT THE CITY. A DESCRIPTION OF THE PICTURES SHOULD BE
PROVIDED.
3. Glenda Hartsell-Shelton mentioned that the current City of Euless web page will have a
History
Section. This section will include information on Fuller House and the Himes Log Cabin.
4. Troy Fuller has many computer files that need to be updated. Donated items need to be
clearly marked as a "donated" or an "on loan" item. He asked committee members who are
familiar with these items to assist in the updating of these files.
5. Docents for the months of July and August reported that there were no visitors in July and one
in August.
6. Michele Burger reported that the front door of Fuller House is rotting and need to be
replaced.
7. Bill Byers is working on replacing the chink on Himes Log Cabin. He is also looking into
getting some heat into the building before winter.
New Business
1. Discussion was held regarding the Christmas Parade on December 7, 2002. It was decided
that the Committee should participate in this parade. Robert Nail indicated that he could ride
his bike.
2. Willie Mae McCormick mentioned that she has a sign for the old Iron Bridge at her house and
would like to have it installed at the Gazebo at McCormick Park. Weldon Cannon
recommended that we submit to the City a request that they permanently install the sign at the
Gazebo. He made a motion to this effect and Robert Nail seconded the motion. Motion
passed.
3. Robert Nail would like us to follow-up with the City to have an employee work four hours a
week at the two houses to do various jobs as necessary. This project was approved earlier this
year. The Committee asked Glenda Hartsell-Shelton to check with the Deputy City Manager
regarding this project.
4. Melba Taylor donated some music records to the museum, which belonged to Hubert Fuller.
5. Docents for Open House September 14th will be Robert Nail. Docents for the Open House
October 12th will be Dan and Michele Burger. Docent for the Open House November 9th will
be Ralph Williamson.

Adjournment
Bill Byers adjourned the meeting at 12:00 noon.
