HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-11-11 Euless Historical Preservation Committee Minutes November 11,2002 Call to Order Chairman Bill Byers called the meeting to order at X X60 am. (Meeting was held at the residence of Jimmy and Helen Payton at 302 Oak Ln., Euless,TX ). Members Present Betty Fuller, Weldon Cannon, Jean Whitener, Helen Payton, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Willie Mae McCormick, Troy Fuller, Bill Byers, Don Tharp,Michele Burger, Craig Ward,Nell Hicks, Ralph Williamson, Evelyn Himes and Helen Lightbody. Staff Present Glenda Hartsell-Shelton, Special Events Coordinator Suzanne Hendrickson, Recreation Manager Visitor Ginger Fuller and Jimmy Payton Treasurer's Report Treasurer, Robert Nail reported that there were no changes in the balance from last month. Approval of Minutes Helen Lightbody informed the group of needed corrections to last month's minutes. First, Lori De La Cruz was present at the meeting but was not noted as such. Second, Lori requested that anyone with pictures beneficial to Euless' 50th Anniversary celebration contact her. Third, Robert Nail reported that work on the computer was primarily done by Troy Fuller. Troy Fuller made a motion that the minutes be approved with the corrections. Weldon Cannon seconded the motion. Motion was passed. Old Business 3.. Glenda Hartsell-Shelton reported that the Christmas tree will be decorated Texas Star December 9th. She also reported that she has been promoted to General Manager Hendrickson will now be our Staff Representative. Page 1 EHPC 111102 Mtg. 2. Bill Byers reported that he plans to install the new heater in the H n the Log Ca Log sooCan. Also, he and Bill Marquis will coordinate the replacement of the chink 3. Michele Burger called attention to the presence of wasps on the porches of both the Fuller House and the Himes Log Cabin. 4. Glenda Hartsell-Shelton and Suzanne Hendrickson discussed usplans on theemberAlnifrom Reception at the Ruth Millican Center. The reception 2:00pm to 8:00pm. Decoration of the facility should be completed and DecDecember r 12th.j Activities will include a petting zoo,blacksmith,train rides, letters t o Santa demonstrations. In addition, a slide show with narration is planned for this event. Hot Dr Pepper and cookies will also be served. 5. On December 12th, Education Day,tours of both e Fuller House and the Himes Log Cabin Creek Elementary will be will be conducted. Approximately 125 third graders butter making, sausage making, quilting and attending. Activities will include chicken hatching, roping. Committee members are encouraged to wear costumes of that era. a. Weldon Cannon showed the Committee a post card postmarked 1897. It mistakenly spelled Euless as E-n-l-i-s-s. 8. Committee member's T-shirts have arrived. These are available Committee activities 23 fro and eda Hartsell- Shelton. These shirts should be worn during Historical C 9. Special thanks to Jimmy and Helen Payton for their hospitality. Everyone enjoyed the great food they provided. New Business 1. Jimmy Payton gave a report on the status ornaments have been Euless' 50th d should be�availabl Christmas ornaments. Approximately 1000 ornam December 14 . Ornaments will cost $15 each. Robert Nail suggested that portable toilets be installed a r e would speak with geJ Park for ankle public use.
