Call to Order
Chairman Bill Byers called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m.

Approval of Minutes
The following correction was made_to_last month's_minntes.Under_Approval of Minutes,the_correct
spelling of Jay's last name is R-o-t-t-m-a-n not R-o-t-t-a-m. -
Iva Nail made motion for the mine es tabe passed ith the_c orrection. Michele-Burger seconded
the motion. Motion passed.
Old Business
1_ Bill_Byers_mentioned that the Euless First_United_Methndist Church has_decided_to keep their
Magnolia tree on the church property.
2. Michele.Burger inquired on_the status of_portable_pntties_that was requested by the Committee
a while back. Suzanne Hendrickson mentioned that it is still being looked into, as there have
been concerns about recentvanclalism in the area.
3. Weldon Cannon reported on his family reunion trip to Bedford, TN. He gave his speech on the
migration and settlement of the HEB area by his descendents from Bedford, TN. Mr. Cannon
will give the same speech on October 2°d at 700 p.m. at the Library.

4. Last month, Weldon Cannon also gave a speech at the Library on street names in Euless.
5. It was suggested that Robert Nail give a speech on the Post Office in Euless in the future.
6. There was a brief discussion on the fact that open house signs are easily being broken. Various
options of how to prevent this from happening were also discussed. Bill Byers will look into
some preventive measures to help with this problem.
7. Craig Ward and Ralph Williamson were docents in August. Craig Ward reported that about 12
people toured the two homes and several of them mentioned that they found out about the tour
because of the Open House signs.
8. Weldon Cannon and Troy Fuller were docents in July.
New Business
1. Troy Fuller donated a Lasso that used to belong to Homer Fuller. He also included a brief
history of the rope that will be displayed next to the rope. The rope is approximately 65 years
old.
2. Michele Burger donated a 1962 Donna Parker Mysteries book and Larry Schaapveld donated a
Fishes of Texas book and a Texas Angler brochure guide.
3. Willie Mae McCormick offered to donate a family owned barn to the City of Euless. If the
committee were agreeable, she would donate up to $7,500 to relocate the barn to the site.
Committee members were agreeable to moving the_barn to Heritage Park Bill Byers briefly
discussed ideas on where the barn can be placed on the property. He also mentioned that he
would take measurements of the property to ensure proper placement of the barn.
4. Iva and Robert Nail mentioned that they visited the Plains Museum and found it very
interesting. They reported on various interesting aspects of the museum,which include an old
church, a country store, a house and a depot. Additionally, Robert Nail mentioned that he
envisions the whole property of Heritage Park being set aside as a historical area.
5. Bill Byers informed the Committee that the NRH Historical Foundation is compiling
information on the history of NE Tan-ant County and they asked if the Committee would lend
them its pictures so they can have them copied. It was further discussed that these pictures
would be sent to Austin for duplication and then returned to the Committee. Mr. Byers was
not agreeable to this request and the Committee agreed. Mr. Byers will get with Lori De La
Cruz to see about having the pictures scanned so that the Committee may have back up copies
to keep.
6. Jean Whitener has a lot of pictures that needs to be sorted. Several Committee members
offered to help her sort them. Bill Byers asked Ms. Whitener to bring the pictures to next
month's meeting so that everyone can help organize them.

7. Bill Byers mentioned the possibility of building an artificial well on the property.
8. Invitations from the Tarrant County Historical Commission of the City of Bedford and the
Bedford Historical Foundation were handed out to committee members. There will be a
dedication ceremony of a historical marker at the Bedford Cemetery. This was the site of the
Bedford family's reunions in the past and the ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 21,
2003 at 2:00 p.m.
9. Michele Burger reported on the following:
a. During summer, she found the flowerbed in the back of the Fuller House dying.
She contacted Johnnie Green and the problem was corrected. The flowers are
looking healthier now.
b. The refrigerator died over the summer and Suzanne Hendrickson was contacted.
Suzanne had the old refrigerator replaced with a new one.
c. It was mentioned that the Euless Today magazine named Jimmy and Helen Payton
volunteers of the year for 2003. The committee offered congratulations to the
Payton's.
d. Informed the committee that Diane Eggers will be rescheduling a tour of the two
houses at a later date since they had to cancel their July tour.
e. Mrs. Burger discussed several field trip options that she thought the committee
might enjoy. After a brief discussion the committee decided to take a fieldtrip to
Glen Rose on Thursday, October 16 . The field trip will leave from the Heritage
Park parking lot at 9 a.m. and Suzanne Hendrickson will RSVP a van for this trip.
f. Cleaning supplies will need to be purchased.
10. Suzanne Hendrickson gave reminders of the following:
a. There will be a special ceremony in honor of area Veteran's. One of the new fields
at the Parks at Texas Star will be named Veteran's Field. Dedication of this field
will be November 8, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Everyone in the
committee was invited to attend.
b. The re-grand opening of City Hall will be December 6th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The
Christmas Parade will also be on the same evening.
c. Christmas at Heritage Park will be December 13th. Suzanne asked for suggestions
on ways to celebrate the 150th birthday of the Himes Log House. Michele Burger
suggested that a Tootsie Roll, log house building contest could be held. She gave
Suzanne a memo with the rules and guidelines for such a contest.
d. Halloween Thing will be on October 31st. If anyone wants to volunteer please
contact Jerry at(817) 685-1449.
e. The Volunteer banquet will be on Saturday, September 13th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

11. It was mentioned that supplies of the Fuller House brochures were getting low. Suzanne
Hendrickson mentioned that when these brochures run out, new ones would have to be
redesigned. Michele Burger suggested some updates when the new brochure is made.

12. Docents for September will be Iva and Robert Nail. Docents for October will be Chris Jones
and Bill Byers. Dan and Michele Burger will be docents in November.
Adjournment
Robert Nail made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Troy Fuller seconded the motion. Bill Byers
adjourned the meeting at 11:45 a.m.
