Minutes
November 10,2003
Call to Order
Chairman Bill Byers called the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m.
Members Present
Bill Byers, Willie Mae McCormick, Don Tharp, Nell Hicks, Robert Nail, Helen Payton, Dan
Clark, Chris Jones, Iva Nail, Michele Burger, Betty Fuller and Ralph Williamson
Staff Present

Treasurer's Report
Treasurer, Robert Nail reported that we have a balance of$3800.96.
Approval of Minutes
Betty Fuller motioned for the minutes to be approved. Chris Jones seconded the motion.
Motion passed.
Old Business
1. Michele Burger reported that two people toured the facility on Saturday the 8th. She also
mentioned that both people were very impressed with the facility and that they would be
bringing their relatives to tour the facilities around Thanksgiving time. Mrs. Burger stated
that she would give them a tour if they called.
2. Michele Burger suggested that a map be drawn up showing where the"Open House"signs
should go. She had a hard time finding the holes that Bill Byers drilled for the signs last
week. Bill Byers stated that he would paint the holes white to make it easier for people to
see.
3. Bill Byers reported that 80 children from Bell Manor Elementary toured Heritage Park last
month. Iva Nail asked that teachers heading up these tours be told to arrive on time as

committee members waited almost an hour for them last time. Michele Burger added that
Mary called the school to see what was the delay and the school said, "they didn't have a
cell phone number for the teacher." Mrs. Burger agreed with Mrs. Nail that teachers
should be more responsible when they set up these tours.
4. Michele Burger mentioned that she was at 2 Grannies while a TV station was filming on
the site. She informed the group that she will be on TV.
5. Michele Burger reported that they had a good time on the Glen Rose field trip. Helen
Lightbody, Iva Nail, Robert Nail, Don Tharp, Helen Payton, Ralph Williamson, Michele
Burger, Betty Fuller, Leon Hogg and Mindy Herring went on the trip.
6. Suzanne Hendrickson reported that the oven at Fuller House has been fixed.
New Business
1. Suzanne Hendrickson reported on the following:
a. The Veterans Field groundbreaking ceremony went very well. She thanked
everyone that came.
b. She also reported that opening bids for construction of Phase III at the Parks at
Texas Star would be on Friday the 14th at 2:15 p.m.
c. The Christmas Parade will be on December 6th starting at 6:30 p.m.
d. Re-grand opening of City Hall will be earlier on the same day from 3 p.m. to 5
p.m.
e. Regarding Christmas at Heritage Park, she informed the committee that in addition
to the usual activities, the first choir to perform will sing Happy Birthday to the
Himes Log House,there will be a Birthday cake and a candy cane hunt to celebrate
Himes Log House's birthday.
2. Michele Burger mentioned that she did not receive the minutes from last month's meeting.
3. Helen Payton mentioned that she would need dashers for the clothesline. Bill Byers will
get them for her for Heritage Park Christmas.
4. Robert Nail mentioned that he saw a display case while on the Glen Rose field trip and he
thought it would be a good idea to obtain one for the Fuller House. It was mentioned that
the display is similar to a book where one is able to flip its pages while viewing. Several
committee members agreed.
5. Michele Burger offered to provide a"Merry Christmas" sign made of re-bar. It would
either hang from the chimney of the Fuller House or from the Himes Log House.
6. Bill Byers talked to Johnnie Green regarding lights for Heritage Park. Johnnie Green will
install a light pole somewhere in the center of the property. Lines will run to the south
side of Himes Log House so electricity will be available on that side of the property.

7. Michele Burger asked committee members to remind her to bring pictures that she took in
San Antonio. Some of the pictures are of a cabin, which has electricity. She mentioned
that electric lights in the cabin were concealed and that one couldn't tell it was there.
8. Committee members briefly discussed the upcoming Christmas at Heritage Park event.
a. It was mentioned that all committee members should work this event.
b. Committee members were also asked to wear period appropriate costumes if
possible. Otherwise, committee members may wear his or her long sleeve denim
shirt.
c. An inquiry was made about the quilters' participation in the event this year. They
will be contacted to find out if they would like to participate.
d. Michele Burger mentioned that she has a contact from Granbury who volunteered
to dress in period appropriate costume and work during the event for free.
Suzanne Hendrickson agreed that it would be o.k. to have her.
9. Bill Byers reported that one of the teachers who attended the Bell Manor Elementary tour,
offered to buy items that the museum might need when she goes to an antique auction in
Virginia. A discussion was held on the need to update the museum's "wish list". Mr.
Byers appointed a sub-committee to update the "wish list". Members of this committee
are: Dan Clark, Helen Payton, Robert&Iva Nail, Chris Jones and Michele Burger.
10. Mr. Byers asked sub-committee members to remain after the meeting to discuss the
details.
11. Michele Burger reported that she bought an old clock for$1.00 at a garage sale.
12. In addition,Mrs. Burger also mentioned that Warren Davenport with Haltom City
informed her that an artist name Jack Bryant is currently working on a full size statue for
Haltom City. Mr. Davenport told Michele Burger that Mr. Bryant is very affordable and
he does excellent work. The committee agreed to see how Haltom City's statue works out.
13. Craig Ward provided a DVD of the Veterans Day Celebration. Michele Burger has the
copy if any one would like to see it.
14. Suzanne Hendrickson gave shirts to committee members that requested them, she also
presented the committee with a brand new City of Euless flag for the flagpole at Heritage
Park.
15. December's meeting will be held at Helen and Jimmy Payton's home. Everyone was
asked to bring a covered dish.

Adjournment
Ralph Williamson motioned for the meeting to adjourn. Chris Jones seconded the motion.
Chair, Bill Byers adjourned the meeting at 11:06 a.m.
