Old Business
1. Acquisition Committee chair, Dan Clark, made two request and reported on the following:
a. Requested permission to remove the computer currently located in the Fuller House to
the Parks and Community Services department, so that update can be made to the
Museum's inventory. After the update, the computer would then be returned to the Fuller
House. Committee members agreed.
b. Requested a decision on whether the Committee would be willing to accept donated
items on an on loan basis. Mr. Clark further mentioned that if the Committee chooses to
accept loaned items, another liability release form must be drafted to deal with liability
issues relating to this type of donation. Majority of the committee expressed hesitancy to
take on the added liability for items on loan. No final vote was given on this subject as
everyone agreed that more thought should be given to this subject.
c. Michele Burger suggested that a separate form could be drafted only for items loaned by
committee members. The committee was agreeable to this suggestion. Mr. Clark added
that the full committee could set whatever guidelines it wants on this matter.
d. Mr. Clark reported that members of the Acquisition Committee gathered liability release
letters and forms from other cities. Mr. Clark used these letters and forms to put together
a release form for the City of Euless. A draft of this form was distributed to the
committee. Members should proof the draft and return it to Mr. Clark. (see attached)
2. Troy Fuller mentioned that there are approximately 40 items currently in the Museum that do
not have donor information.
3. Chris Jones recommended that the Committee should not determine the value of any donated
items. Committee members were agreeable to Mr. Jones' suggestion.
4. Betty Fuller expressed concern regarding the suggestion made under New Business Item#3
on the Acquisition Committee's meeting on March 1, 2004. The topic under discussion was
that"...only items from the 1930's be accepted by the museum."Mrs. Fuller added that the
purpose of the Museum is to preserve the history of Euless, so to set the 1930's as the basis
for donation acceptance would not be appropriate. Willie Mae McCormick along with
various other committee members were in agreement with Mrs. Fuller. It was further
mentioned that many items currently in the Museum pre-date this era.
5. Robert Nail mentioned that he would like to see a couple of rooms in the Fuller House hold
only items from the 1930's. The other rooms may contain whatever items the Committee
decides appropriate.
New Business
1. The following committee members have birthdays in March: Helen Payton, Jean Whitener,
Dan Burger and Michele Burger.
2. Weldon Cannon donated a 1931 Euless Charge map that he copied off of Jewel C. Posey's
BD Thesis. Mr. Cannon put in extensive hours of research and labor in labeling names of
homeowners at the time on this map. Committee members were not only impressed but also
appreciative of Mr. Cannon's donation.
3. Veda Fuller Boswell, Troy Fuller's sister, visited Mr. Fuller last month. A couple of Mrs.
Boswell's grandchildren were very impressed with their tour of the Museum and wrote to
Mr. Fuller about it. Mr. Fuller read their letters to the committee.
4. Michele Burger gave the following reminders:
a. The Texas Historical Commission's next meeting will be in Fort Worth.
b. Inquired as to what the committee's feelings are regarding the bust of Mr. Euless
previously discussed. Committee members were of the opinion that this project was put
on hold due to lack of funds. Chris Jones mentioned that he would prefer to see any
monies spend on the bust go towards something more beneficial to the preservation of the
history of Euless.
c. Mrs. Burger reminded the committee of volunteer opportunities during Arbor Daze if
anyone is interested.
d. Mentioned that there will be a WWII dedication on May 12, 2004 in Washington D.C.
e. Mrs. Burger suggested a picnic for committee members and their families on May 7,
2004. Committee members were agreeable to the picnic and it will held at Heritage Park.
5. Suzanne Hendrickson reported on the following:
a. The auction was this past Saturday and approximately $22,000 was raised. Main stage
acts were announced and the list included, Cindy Lauper, Sam the Sham, Three Dog
Night and many more.
b. Ms. Hendrickson explained that Euless residents may pick up their free Arbor Daze 2004
parking pass from the Midway Recreation Center this year. Residents will have to show
proof of Euless residency in order to receive their parking pass. Parking passes will not
be printed on the Euless Today magazine as in years past.
c. Requested approval to purchase the flip page display previously discussed by the
committee. Iva Nail made a motion for approval. Betty Fuller seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
6. Betty Fuller reported that Lois Himes Melton, along with other family members, died
tragically in a car accident recently. Mrs. Melton rented the Fuller House for a family
reunion last year.
7. It was also reported that a gentleman with the last name "Euless"passed away in Fresno,
California recently.
