Minutes
October 10, 2005
Call to Order
Chair, Betty Fuller called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m.
Members Present

Approval of Minutes
The following corrections were made to September's minutes:
a. Treasurer Robert Nail reported that the balance from the last meeting was $4,084.14.
b. On page 3, under New Business, item #3, it should say "quarterly" programs instead
of"monthly"programs.
Michele Burger motioned for the minutes to be approved. Troy Fuller seconded the motion,
motion approved.
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer, Robert Nail, reported that he received a $50 memorial check and the new balance is
now $4,134.14.
Old Business
1. Betty Fuller thanked Dan and Michele Burger for acting as docents this month. Mrs.
Burger reported 12 visitors for the month.
2. Dan Clark researched the Texas Property Code regarding information on properties on
loan to Museums in Texas. It was discussed that there are a lot of items on loan to the
Fuller House Museum. It was agreed that inventory needed to be completed for all
artifacts at Heritage Park. Various committee members agreed to meet on October 11 at
1 p.m. for the purpose of inventorying.
3. All doors at the Fuller House have been repaired and adjusted.

4. Mrs. Fuller thanked the City for holding the Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on
September 23. She stated that it was a fun filled evening and the entertainment was great.
5. Handouts were distributed to the committee regarding the mission statement that the
"Vision Statement" sub-committee worked on. Two statements were presented to the
committee to vote on. Committee members anonymously voted on which statement they
preferred and Suzanne Hendrickson tallied the results. By a seven to four vote, the
following statement was selected as the committee's mission statement:
The Mission of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee
is to preserve and promote an awareness of the historical heritage
of the area and to demonstrate how it defines current culture
and provides a bridge between yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The Committee works to preserve and protect the culture, genealogy,
archives, structures and historical treasures of the City.
6. A discussion was held regarding a name tag for "Bulger". It was mentioned that dog's
didn't have name tags at that time, it was therefore voted upon and approved by the
committee that a bowl with the name `Bulger" written on it may be made and placed
beside the dog.
7. Suzanne Hendrickson was asked to report on the status of the quarterly program
previously discussed by the committee. Suzanne asked if the committee would be willing
to hold the quarterly program in the council chambers if it were available. Committee
members were agreeable to the idea. Suzanne will finalize details for the program.
8. Mrs. Fuller thanked Robert and Iva Nail and Weldon Cannon for attending the Second
Annual Tarrant County Historical Preservation Summit on September 22. Weldon
Cannon was a guest speaker at the event. A thank you card from Betty Porter and a
picture of Robert and Iva Nail, Betty Fuller and Weldon Cannon were circulated for the
committee's viewing.
9. Suzanne Hendrickson mentioned that if there aren't any corrections or additions to the
booklet and brochure she presented to the committee at the September meeting then she
will proceed with printing of said booklet and brochure. One correction was made by
Mr. Cannon on the address of the Fuller House. It should be 203 Cullum Dr. not 203
North Cullum Dr.
New Business
1. Robert Nail donated a copy of a reconstructed drawing of the original Tarrant County
Court House that used to be located in Birdville, Texas. The reconstructed drawing of
the Court House was done by Don Tipps.
2. Committee members will put up the Christmas tree after November's regular meeting.
3. Mrs. Payton offered to host the committee's December meeting at her home. Committee
members expressed their gratitude to Mrs. Payton.

4. It was mentioned that there was a story on Troy Fuller's daughter in the Star Telegram a
few weeks past.
5. Betty Fuller reported that HEB-ISD schools have not called to set up tours of the
facilities. Mrs. Fuller will contact various schools so that a schedule could be made.
6. Michele Burger noted that the Museum's open house signs have 201 Cullum Drive as the
address for the Fuller House Museum. Mrs. Burger reported that there are
inconsistencies in the listing of Heritage Park's address in various City brochures and
pamphlets. According to David Allen, G.I.S. Manager for the City of Euless, the correct
address for the Ruth Millican Center is 201 Cullum Drive, Fuller House is 203 Cullum
Drive and the Himes Log House is 205 Cullum Drive. New open house signs aren't
needed at this time; however, upon reorder, the correct address need to be added.
7. Robert Nail informed the committee of a Star Telegram article he recently read regarding
City approved Historical Markers. He discussed the possibility of approaching the City
of Euless to see if they would authorize City designated Historical Markers. Robert Nail
made a motion for Suzanne Hendrickson to do research on whether the City would
approve a City Historical Marker program. Weldon Cannon seconded the motion.
Committee members were all in favor.
8. Fire Station #3 will be dedicated on October 22 at 9:30 a.m. The Fire Department's
annual open house will be on the same date. Mrs. Fuller spoke with Weldon Cannon,
Billy Byers and Robert Nail relative to providing tidbits of history and trivia for the
Mayor to use during the dedication. Mrs. Fuller will also forward Troy Fuller's name to
the City Secretary's Office for additional information. An invitation to the dedication
was passed around and committee members were invited to attend.
9. Heritage Park Christmas will be on December 10, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Suzanne Hendrickson
suggested that committee members could start thinking about what they would like
displayed inside McCormick Barn. Mr. Cannon is donating his dad's old tractor to be
placed inside the barn. It was suggested that the tomato planter and other farm equipment
inside Fuller House could be placed inside the barn as well.
10. Committee members were reminded of the Boards and Commissions Appreciation
Dinner on Monday,November 14 at the Texas Star Conference Centre.
11. Dr. Bruinger, HEB-ISD Superintendent, has approved the rededication of the Mosier
Valley School Marker. Committee members were invited to attend the rededication
ceremony. The date has not been determined, however, committee members may be
contacted by Mary Faiva-Siale or Mrs. Fuller if the rededication should occur prior to the
next Historical meeting.
12. Chris Jones donated two 1978 Northeast Tarrant County telephone directories to the
Museum.
13. Robert and Iva Nail will docent in November.

14. Mrs. Fuller reported that Billy Byers completed an application to the Tarrant County
Historical Commission for matching grants to restore Richard Calloway's gravestone.
Mr. Calloway was the first person to be buried at our local Calloway Cemetery in 1874.
