Minutes
March 12, 2007
Call to Order
Vice Chair, Michele Burger called the meeting to order at 10:07 a.m. The meeting was held in the
Pre-Council Chambers at City Hall, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless.

Approval of Minutes
Under Old Business, Item #2, it should say that Suzanne Hendrickson sent out the "thank you"
notes and acknowledgements for the memorials received on behalf of Mrs. McCormick. Troy
Fuller made a motion for the minutes to be approved with the correction. James Gathings
seconded the motion. Motion approved.
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer, Robert Nail, reported a balance of$9,149.88.
Old Business
1. Helen Payton, Robert Nail, Ralph Williamson and Ana Ahovelo were docents at the March
10 open house. It was reported that five people visited that day.

2. Boyce Byers and Helen Payton have completed the McCormick Scrapbook. They reported
the scrapbook looks great.
3. Bill Byers and Harvey Little have placed the McCormick rake, tiller, and other items
requested by Mrs. McCormick at Heritage Park. Tomatoes,potatoes, onions and cotton
have been planted in the garden. Corn will also be planted in the near future. Mr. Byers
spoke with Ray McDonald regarding watering the garden.
4. Robert Nail reported that there are wasp and yellow jacket nests near the Himes Log
House. He also reported that there are also ant beds near the back steps to the house. A
work order will be turned in to Facilities to have this treated.
5. Helen Payton and Billy Byers reported that Ana Ahovelo cleaned both the Fuller House
and the Log House Friday afternoon. They further reported that both homes were very
clean for the tour on Saturday.
6. Robert Nail reported that there are new benches at Heritage Park. Mr. Nail thought the
benches a very nice addition to the park. Ray McDonald was thanked for providing the
benches.
7. Ray McDonald was asked to report on the foundation repair work that was done at Fuller
House. Mr. McDonald indicated that repair work has been completed and everything went
very well. It was further mentioned that the repair work has a lifetime guarantee as well as
being transferable should the need arise. Jimmy Beck is completing work surrounding the
house, making sure the facility is back to its original condition. Bill Byers added that the
foundation repair company did an excellent job of being careful of the sprinkler system and
the surrounding area.
8. Ray McDonald further reported on the newly installed alarm system. He mentioned that
the alarm pad inside the Fuller House deactivates the system all over the property. Setting
and deactivating the system works the same way as the original system. It was further
noted that another alarm pad is located on the outside of the Fuller House for the
maintenance crew to use.
9. Dan Clark discussed the need for the Committee to decide how it would like to post
information on the internet. City staff will be taking a PastPerfect class in April in order to
help facilitate the project. Various topics were mentioned at February's meeting and the
Committee was asked to consider how to organize and post the material online.
10. Donna Mickan turned in a copy of the original Morrisdale Estates brochure previously
discussed by the Committee.
11. Michele Burger gave a reminder for the members who were given"red folders"to proof
and return them to Ofa"Mary".
12. James Gathings and Troy Fuller reported on preliminary work they have completed in
preparation for the Calloway Cemetery census project. Mr. Fuller and Mr. Gathings both

individually drew scaled maps of the property. There is roughly 2.3 to 2.4 acres to the
property.
13. Bill Byers and Harvey Little have relocated various farm implements to and around
Heritage Park for display purposes. Descriptions and"Do Not Climb" signs will need to be
made and placed near each piece of equipment. Mr. Byers further discussed Mr. Little's
various contributions to the preservation of history in the area. Mr. Little has made several
purchases of items for the Committee and has refused reimbursement for said purchases.
He has helped with the display at the McCormick Barn as well as transport of various farm
equipment onto the property as well as numerous other services. Mr. Byers expressed his
appreciation for everything Mr. Little has done on behalf of the Euless Historical
Preservation Committee.
14. Ofa"Mary" reported on the following:
a. Logo has been done.
b. George Green books have been received. Per the Committee's request, three
will be given to the Library and three will be kept in the office for the
Committee's use.
c. Museum signs will be worked on after Arbor Daze.
d. Staff will make sure the Committee's booth for Arbor Daze will be set up.
e. Still working on scanning the cookbook.
15. Michael Davenport reported and/or discussed the following:
a. Introduced himself to the Committee and indicated his pleasure at the opportunity
to work with the Committee.
b. St. Patrick's Day concert will be on March 17, 2007.
c. The Easter Egg hunt will be in the evening on March 31, 2007.
d. Texas Trash Off and Arbor Daze will be in April.
New Business
1. Boyce Byers asked if the Committee could consider the possibility of making the Himes
Log House a little more comfortable during tours and open house. She mentioned the fact
that during winter and summer, the building is either extremely cold or extremely hot
depending on the season. She asked that the Committee look into making the Log House
more comfortable at some time in the future.
2. It was mentioned that the parking lot signs between Heritage Park and the Ruth Millican
Center could be reworded to include the McCormick Barn and Himes Log House.
3. Boyce Byers indicated that several decorative dolls used to decorate the Christmas tree are
missing. She asked if Committee members could keep each other informed of where items
are placed and stored so that everyone knows where everything is.
4. Mr. Byers introduced and reported that Glenn and Helen Gleghorn recently submitted
applications to the City to serve on the Preservation Committee. Committee members
welcomed Mr. Gleghorn.

5. The next meeting will be on April 9, 2007 at the Fuller House.
6. Chris Jones and Bill Byers volunteered to docent on April 14, 2007. Ana Ahovelo will also
be available to help. Committee members were reminded to wear their Historical shirts.
7. Committee members were thanked for their attendance and participation in serving through
various sub-committees, acting as docents,providing special tours, decorating the homes,
etc. City employees were also thanked for their support over the years. It was further
mentioned that Suzanne Hendrickson's responsiveness to historical projects will be missed.
Adjournment
Chris Jones made a motion for the meeting to adjourn at 10:56 a.m. Troy Fuller seconded the
motion, all were in favor, motion approved.
