Internet Posting: Mrs. Fuller gave the staff a proofed copy of Beatrice Parker Green's oral history recording. A discussion came up regarding material the City and the Committee publishes online. Committee members raised concerns regarding the legal responsibility of the City pertaining to historical accuracy of oral history accounts as well as other historical materials published by the City. Some members suggested that oral accounts by those interviewed could be edited to a certain degree; however, they should never be edited to change and/or delete the opinion of the interviewee even if the accounts are historically inaccurate. Various suggestions were brought up regarding the best route for the City to take regarding a disclaimer of some sort in order to be legally correct when posting information on line. Pattie Benoit suggested that the Texas Oral History Guide as well as the Handbook of Texas websites currently provide historically accurate and documented information on Euless, Mosier Valley and other surrounding cities. The Committee generally agreed that it would be best to use published material for accuracy purposes. It was mentioned that since Mr. Cannon is generally considered the Committee "historian", he should write and/or proof final drafts of all material published by the Committee. Staff was strongly encouraged to research the subject to ensure protection against legal actions by the public due to unintentional posting of inaccurate information. It was further brought up that perhaps the City Attorney ought to review the matter. 8. Signage Project: currently being worked on by staff and the Display Sub-committee. MCCORMICK BARN UPDATE 1. She mentioned that perhaps the reason for the low turn out is due to the rarity of open house, being held just once a month. She suggested that the facility could be open every Saturday and the Committee could act as docents once a month and the City could man the rest of the month so that the facility could open continuously. 2. Ralph Williamson reported an evening vigil ceremony for POW-MIA on September 21, 2007 in case anyone wants to attend. VISITOR REPORT 1. Mayor Pro Tern Linda Martin indicated her appreciation to the Committee. STAFF REPORT 1.
