November 12, 2007
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Betty Fuller, called the meeting to order at 10:07 a.m. The meeting was held at the Fuller
House Museum, 203 Cullum Drive, Euless.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Betty Fuller made a motion for the minutes to be approved with the understanding that if anyone
has corrections, they may contact Ofa"Mary" on a later date. Michele Burger seconded the
motion. Motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORTS
Treasurer, Robert Nail, reported a balance of$8,885.84.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Michele Burger reported nine visitors at open house on November 10, 2007. It was farther
reported that Mary was stung by yellow jackets that day.

2. Mrs. Fuller asked staff to report on the upcoming Heritage Park Christmas event. The
event will be on Saturday, December 8, 2007 from 1 to 5 p.m. Various elementary schools
with sixty to eighty students each school are scheduled to sing Christmas carols during the
event. The Trinity High School Show Choir will be performing. There will also be a flute
choir as well as the other usual entertainments. Staff will be on site at 10 a.m. to start
setting up. A sign up sheet was passed around so Committee members could sign up for a
time slot to work during the event.
3. Mrs. Fuller thanked everyone who served as docents during recent elementary school field
trips. The following people volunteered to docent on November 13, 2007: Bill Byers,
Helen Payton, Robert Nail, Veva Lou Massey, David Massey and James Gathings. The
following people volunteered to docent on December 4, 2007: Bill Byers, Helen Payton,
Donna Mickan, Betty Fuller and James Gathings.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Calloway Cemetery:
a. Bill Byers reported that Robbie with the Boy Scouts has been doing a good job
cleaning and picking up at the cemetery. He also recruits others from his group
to help him with the project. It was added that Pat May has been Robbie's
mentor for the past eight or nine years.
b. Weldon Cannon has been recording names, death dates and marker locations on
a scaled map to help with the verification process.
c. It was mentioned that the tabernacle on the property is almost a hundred years
old. Mrs. Lively had several old photographs of the tabernacle.
d. Mrs. Fuller thanked those who have worked on the Calloway Cemetery census
project. The following people volunteered to work on verifying the data that
was previously collected by the Committee: Bill Byers, Iva Nail, Helen Payton,
Beth and James Gathings, Weldon Cannon and Betty Fuller. Work will begin on
the project after the holidays.
2. Photo Project:
a. Dan Clark, Gary Fieldsend and Don Martin have photographed various
locations of historical significance around the area.
b. Mr. Clark has a standard "description" form to be completed for each new photo
taken. Information from the form will be used during the scanning and
identifying process.
c. Mrs. Fuller indicated that the project will start with the "Founding Families"
album. Mr. Clark will speak with Kate Lyons about how to catalogue the
project.
d. Staff reported that the scanner is set up and ready for the Committee's use.
Members will schedule a time to meet with staff to show them how to work the
scanner.
e. Staff placed an ad in Euless Today asking the public for old photographs for the
Photo Project.
i Mrs. Fuller raised the question of where the photo albums could be displayed
once the project is completed. Michael Davenport suggested that photos could

be displayed at the Fuller House during tours. Some members were inclined to
display them at the Library.
g. Dan Clark passed around a photo of the old"Rock House" on Highway 10.
Some members recalled various businesses that were run out of the house. Said
members were asked to fill out a"description" form so it could be included with
the photo.
h. Committee members were asked for old photographs they may have of
historical significance. Photos will be scanned and returned to the owner within
seven business days.
3. Oral History Project: Staff gave Mrs. Fuller copies of transcribed interviews of Annie
Huffman-Lees, Virginia Fuller Payton, Willie Mae McCormick and a document titled
"Reminiscing with Mac McCormick". These need to be proofed and returned to Mary for
corrections.
4. New/Recent Donations:
a. Mr. Byers and Mr. Little have relocated the wagon wheels to Heritage Park and
placed them at the McCormick Barn.
b. The windmill relocation project is being worked on.
c. Photographs of B&B Wrecker Company.
d. Photographs of the Wigwam Skating Rink.
e. A large photograph (ca. 1898-1900) of William Nelson Moody Fuller's two
sons; Albert Andrew Fuller and Samuel Edward Fuller along with their future
wives, Ocie Belle Lindsay Fuller and Laura Prentiss Fuller. Mr. W.N. M. Fuller
once owned all the property around and including where Heritage Park is
located. His son A.A. Fuller owned the property after him.
f. Mrs. Fuller purchased the following items from Hattie Cribbs' estate and
donated the items to the Museum:
• Lewis Cribbs' Western Hills Inn barbershop license and barber shears.
• A Mason Canning Jar, patent date of 1908 with homemade soap inside.
• An iron rest (ca. 1900-1930) with an incised capital letter"E" in the middle.
• A fifty plus year old bonnet.
• Two 12X18 construction paper sheets with 1946 Euless High School
graduating class photos. Boyce and Bill Byers were asked if they could
identify some of the people in the photograph.
• A 1976 Bicentennial Edition of the Mid-Cities News with a featured section
for Euless, Hurst and Bedford.
It was discussed that Betty Fuller should be reimbursed for the purchase of these
items. Mrs. Fuller insisted that she wants the items donated to the Museum.
After a brief discussion, Robert Nail made a motion that Mrs. Fuller be
reimbursed for purchase of the items. Troy Fuller seconded the motion. There
was no opposition, motion approved.
5. Docent Packet: Staff prepared ten packets for the Committee. Three members picked up a
packet, the rest will be placed at the Fuller House in case other members would like a copy.
The docent packet includes recordings by Robert and Iva Nail, Bill Byers and Troy Fuller.

6. Commemorative Mural Display: A brief discussion was held regarding the Committee's
level of commitment in the project. Mrs. Fuller asked if Kate Lyon ought to be invited to
speak with the Committee again regarding the project. Various suggestions were made
including the Committee purchasing a Himes Log House tile. Key members felt that Mrs.
Evelyn Himes be allowed first option to purchase such a tile, members agreed that this
would be a good idea.
7. Library Expansion Project: There will be a historical section in the new Library expansion
project for historical preservation purposes. Mrs. Fuller was quoted in the Star Telegram
regarding the expansion project. On behalf of the Committee, Mrs. Fuller thanked the City
Manager, Mayor and all City staff who helped with obtaining a historical section in the
Library.
MCCORMICK BARN/ OUTDOOR UPDATE
1. Mr. Byers is working on the signage project.
HIMES LOG HOUSE UPDATE
1. Hornet/Bee Hive: Myers Pest Control was contacted and they have treated the problem.
2. Mrs. Fuller asked for the City's voice recorder so she can record information on the Log
House for the docent packet. Staff will have the recorder at the November 13, Oakwood
Terrace tour.
FULLER HOUSE UPDATE
1. Staff will make sure the Fuller House and Himes Log House are cleaned before Heritage
Park Christmas.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Betty Fuller thanked Weldon Cannon for writing a brief history of Euless for the Tarrant
County Historical Commission's tourism brochure.
2. Thanked the staff for setting up the Committee's display table for at the 4th Annual Tarrant
County Historical Commission Summit. Mrs. Fuller recalled that it had been previously
brought up that perhaps the City of Euless might be willing to host a summit in the future.
Mr. Cannon mentioned that another city is hosting the 2008 summit and it wouldn't be
until 2009 before Euless could host a summit. Staff will look into the possibility.
3. Gave a reminder to the Committee of the Boards and Commissions dinner at 6:30 p.m. in
the evening.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. Norma Lively gave Mary two photos of the McCormick barn at its original location to scan
for the photo project. She also gave Mrs. Fuller several photos to copy.

2. The December 10, 2007 meeting will be at Mr. and Mrs. Payton's home. Iva Nail passed
around a sign up sheet for the members to volunteer a dish to bring to the luncheon
normally held after the meeting. Various staff members will be invited to the meeting.
Mrs. Fuller thanked the Payton's for the use of their home for the annual December
meeting and luncheon.
3. Bill Byers found a scythe and an axe from the barn in the well during one of the tours.
Questions were raised regarding the infra-red security system, if perhaps children are still
climbing over the fence. Staff indicated that no contact was made to them regarding an
alarm in the recent past. They will look into the situation to make sure everything is
working properly.
4. Michele Burger inquired as to when the Committee will decorate the Fuller House and
Himes Log House for Christmas. The Committee agreed to do it after the tour on
November 13, 2007.
5. Iva Nail asked if copies could be provided of photos brought in by Norma Lively. She
thought Mrs. Evelyn Himes would enjoy looking at them. The Committee agreed that this
would be a great idea. Norma Lively indicated that copies have been given to Rita to take
to Mrs. Himes.
6. Troy Fuller asked when the cracks inside the Fuller House could be fixed. Staff will look
in to having these fixed.
7. Robert Nail thanked the City for getting the two front doors repainted.
VISITORS REPORT
1. Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg gave a reminder about the commemorative Euless afghan.
These are available for purchase at various locations including Stytch-n-Tyme for$50.
2. Dottie Rust lived in Louisiana for thirty years, Florida and South Carolina for ten years; she
used to work in Dallas and currently resides in Euless.
3. Joe Cannon's parents moved to Dallas long enough for him to be born then returned to
Euless where he has lived all his life. He recently joined the Historical Preservation
Committee.
