October 13, 2008
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Betty Fuller, called the meeting to order at 10:07 a.m. The meeting was held at City Hall in
the Pre-Council Chamber at 201 North Ector Drive, Euless, Texas.

Betty Fuller, Donna Mickan, Helen Gleghorn, Don Martin, Joe Cannon, Helen Payton and David
Brown.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The following correction was made under the Chairman's Report item number 3:
• The Committee will tour local cemeteries after the October meeting and not after the
November meeting.
Donna Mickan made a motion for the minutes to be approved with the correction. Ralph Williamson
seconded the motion, motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORTS
Treasurer, Robert Nail, reported a total balance of$7,014.06. Ten dollars from the Library fund still
needs to be deposited. He also reminded everyone that the Committee is a non-profit entity and all
purchases made on behalf of the Committee needs to be tax free. Tax Exempt forms are available
from the staff. Dan Clark purchased items for the Library Display and will give Mr. Nail the receipt.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
EHPC Mtg. 101308
1. Joe Cannon reported thirty-two visitors on October 11, 2008. Many visitors were attending •
the Greek Festival occurring at the Greek Orthodox Church next door. Joe Cannon and Betty •
Fuller were the docents that day.
2. Photo Exhibit Event: A list of volunteers and their duties for the Photo Exhibit on November
8, 2008 was passed out.
3. Docents for the South Euless School tour on Thursday, October 23, 2008 are: Donna Mickan,
Norma Lively, Betty Fuller and David Massey.
4. Docents for the Bell Manor School tour on November 6, 2008 are: Iva and Robert Nail, Helen
Payton and Betty Fuller.
5. Docents for the November 18, 2008, Meadow Creek Elementary School tour are: Sue and
Tom Stover, Betty Fuller and David Brown.
6. Docents for the Tuesday, December 2, 2008, Stonegate Elementary School tour are: Ralph
Williamson, Betty Fuller and Helen Payton.
7. Docents for the Thursday, February 5, 2009 Bellaire Elementary School tour are Betty Fuller,
Helen Payton and David Brown.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Calloway Cemetery:
• Mr. and Mrs. Massey and Mr. and Mrs. Payton were able to meet regarding projects for
the cemetery.
• The application for tax exempt status has been filed. Invitations for the initial meeting to
elect a Board of Directors and officers will be sent out on October 18, 2008. The meeting
will be at the First United Methodist Church of Euless at 10 a.m. on November 1, 2008.
• It was further reported that there are ninety names on the contact list.
• The Sub-committee will meet at the PACS building on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at
10 a.m. to work on the censuses.
2. Oral History Project:
• Warren Riley Fuller's interview is done and posted on the City website.
• It was mentioned that new interviews could be done on video rather than audio. Several
Committee members were mentioned as candidates for recording.
3. City Website Update: Staff is currently working on the updates.
4. Photo Scanning Project: This is an on-going project, several large boxes of city photographs
are currently at the PACS office waiting to be sorted and scanned.
5. Library Photo Display: The old rock building on Highway 10 is the current Library display.
Description cards are provided for each display for people to take home. The Committee was
encouraged to go by and take a look at the display.

6. Library History Wall: The Bear Creek Cemetery tile has been purchased. Troy Fuller
purchased the Fuller Brothers & Nail tile and the Melson's purchased two other tiles.
7. Photo Album Project:
• Members of the Sub-committee are Helen Gleghorn, Donna Mickan, Sue Stover, Shirley
Mercer, Doris Brown, Helen Payton and Betty Fuller.
• The Sub-committee has been organizing the albums in preparation for the Photo Exhibit
on November 8, 2008.
• The next Photo Committee meeting will be at the Fuller House on Tuesday, October 21,
2008, at 9 a.m. The Committee's following meeting will be at the Fuller House on
November 6, 2008 after the Bell Manor Elementary school tour.
8. Historical Photo Exhibit on November 8, 2008:
• Gary Fieldsend is putting together the Aviation display. Joe Cannon previously mentioned
that important historical photos had been donated to the Amon Carter Museum and they
were in turn donated to the University of Texas. Mr. Fieldsend inquired as to the
approximate year the photos were donated to the University of Texas.
• It was further mentioned that the airport was called by a different name prior to Greater
Southwest Airport. Mrs. Fuller further suggested that the book titled Heart of the

Metroplex Hurst Euless Bedford; An Illustrated History by George Green shows the
original name of the airport.
• Dan Clark and Gary Fieldsend will meet with staff on October 24, 2008, regarding the
project.
9. Donations: The Committee discussed where the Mackie Sustaire desk ought to be displayed.
Donna Mickan made a motion to display the desk in the "den" at the Fuller House. Helen
Gleghorn seconded the motion. All were in favor, motion approved.
10. Historical Marker Project:
• Mrs. Fuller reported on behalf of Weldon Cannon that the Horticulture marker has been
set on Mr. Cannon's property across from South Euless Elementary School.
• Samples of the proposed seal for the local marker were passed out for the Committee's
viewing. The City also designed a proposed seal for the project. The Committee will
further review the designs at next month's meeting.
11. Artifacts Labeling Project: Mavy Wright will attend the next Photo Album Committee
meeting to get ideas for the labeling project.
12. Local Cemetery Tour: Fourteen people will be taking the tour after today's meeting.

STAFF REPORT
1. Five choirs have agreed to sing at the Heritage Park Christmas event.

2. A section in Euless Today is now allotted for donations and loan requests from the public.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Mrs. Fuller reported that Mr. Cannon has been ill and may be out for a while.
2_ Noted a correction that Mavy Nell Wright could docent on October 11, 2008.
3. Indicated that Mrs. Mickan did not attend the meeting that was held with the HEB-ISD to
schedule elementary school tours.
4: The HEB-ISD will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary on Saturday, November 1, 2008. South
Euless Elementary School will be celebrating its 95th Anniversary on Tuesday, October 28,
2008.
5. Issued an invitation to the Committee for the Annual Tarrant County Historical Commission
Summit on October 30, 2008, from 4-7pm. Staff will be present to set up the Committee's
display table.
6. Indicated that Mayor Mary Lib Saleh mentioned the possibility of the City purchasing the
Euless School marker.
7. Mrs. Fuller would prefer that the Library tile project be referred to as the Library History Wall
project.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. Tom Stover asked if a new way of recruiting docents for open house and special tours could
be developed. He also suggested that it should be a membership requirement for all members
to docent a certain amount of times.
2. Troy Fuller spoke with Weldon Cannon and Mr. Cannon was in high spirits and seemed to be
doing very well after his surgery.
3. A reminder was given to the Committee for donations for the Trigg tile.

Ralph Williamson made a motion for the meeting to adjourn. James Gathings seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
