The Committee is still waiting for approval of the 501-C application. Bill Golden will be serving on the Committee as well. 2. Oral History Project: • Dan Clark displayed the current webpage with the oral history interviews. He mentioned the following as possible future topics for the project: Founding families, DFW Airport and the Pakistani/Indian community. • Oral histories still pending are Halatono Netane's and Ofa"Mary's". • Mr. Clark mentioned the idea of video recording future interviews rather than tape recording. He discussed the desirability of conducting these video recordings in the Genealogy Room in the Library. Staff indicated that the Committee could proceed with acquiring the equipment needed for the project. Staff will help with the project. David Massey mentioned that his church leases video equipment. He will check with them and report back to the Committee. 3. City Website Update: • Staff reviewed all the changes and updates done on the historical page. The majority of the information and descriptions on the website was done by Mr. Cannon. These included one on the Fuller House, Elisha Adam Euless, the City, Faun Boyd, the Himes Log House and various others. These replaced the previous write ups on the website which the Committee indicated contained erroneous information. Mrs. McCormick's personal account of the history of the McCormick Barn was also used. A new section with Historical Marker locations was added as well as a Mayors of Euless section. Staff indicated that if the Committee was interested in including short bios of previous Mayors, they could be added to the Mayors of Euless page. Staff thanked Gary Fieldsend for providing and editing the photos for the historical marker page and the Mayors of Euless page. Adam Eakins also worked very hard with the recreation staff to update the website. • Mr. Cannon indicated his interest in Mayor W.G. Fuller. This particular Mr. Fuller was not related to the Fuller family of Euless. After a brief discussion, the Committee felt that W.G. Fuller didn't have any descendants left in the area. Mr. Cannon will conduct some research on him. HPC Mtg. 011209 Page 2 • Betty Fuller encouraged the Committee to go to the historical website and make suggestions on improvements needed. She also thanked the staff for working on the project. 4. Photo Scanning Project: Dan Clark reported that 1,347 photo's are currently in the database. 5. Library Photo Display: A photo of the William "Bill" Fuller house is the current Library display. 6. Library History Wall: • Mrs. Fuller encouraged everyone to purchase a tile. Tiles could be of birds, animals, plants, family names, an occasion, etc. • Sally McCutcheon, a Dr. Rhodes descendant purchased the "Early Medicine" tile. Dr. Rhodes was a prominent physician in the area in the 1900's. 7. Donations: • Mrs. Fuller scheduled an appointment to meet with Loreen Snyder, she recently contacted the City regarding artifacts she may be interested in loaning or donating to the Museum. The donor has a lot of indoor and outdoor type artifacts and Mrs. Fuller will meet with her to view the items. Mr. Byers, Chair of the Acquisition Sub- committee will also meet with Mrs. Fuller and Ms. Snyder to select items for Heritage Park. • Dan Clark urged the Committee to obtain donation/loan forms from all donors for the Committee records. • Sue Stover noted that Vickie Baum donated an old pair of roller skates. 8. Historical Marker Project: • Weldon Cannon reviewed the local marker emblem designs and decided on the one Jeff Towne made. The emblem has a shooting star which seems to be the theme of current City designs and emblems. Weldon Cannon made a motion that the Committee adopts this design as the official local historical marker emblem. The design will have two pieces, the emblem portion, which will be permanent, and a second, separate description section that would allow a new description with each new marker. Troy Fuller seconded the motion. All were in favor, motion approved. Further discussion will be conducted regarding guidelines, application process, etc. at a later date. • The Horticulture Marker dedication is being planned for sometime after the summer. Much organization must be made prior to the ceremony and Mr. Cannon is working on it. • The City has offered to pay for the Texas State Historical Marker for the Euless School. The Committee is coordinating with the City regarding the application process and acquisition of the marker. 9. Artifacts Labeling Project: Staff was given two descriptions to put on a plague for items in the Fuller House. One is for the Blackie Sustaire desk and one for the photograph of Albert Andrew and Samuel Edward Fuller and their spouses. 10. Historical "Snippets": Sue Stover is coordinating this project. Members could volunteer to share a short story, maximum of five minutes, about an incident or an ancestor, something pertinent to Euless history and the surrounding area.
