STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Calloway Cemetery:
• David Massey reported that the Board of Trustees received a $1,000 donation from Sally
McCutcheon. Ms. McCutcheon is a granddaughter of Dr. Rhodes who was a very prominent
doctor in the area in the 1800's. Mr. Massey sent a thank you note to Ms. McCutcheon for her
generous donation.
• Several names of people were mentioned as possible candidates for inclusion in the cemetery
contact list. Everyone was encouraged to provide names for the list.
2. Donations and Acquisitions:
• Bill Byers was contacted by Geraldine Mills of the Fielder House Museum about possibly
accepting a donation of historical farm implements from Johnson Crossing Cemetery. Mr.
Byers was able to look over the items and felt it would be a great addition to Heritage Park.
He reported a hay rake and a mower. Harvey Little can transport the items to Heritage Park if
the Committee chose to accept the donation. Mr. Byers made a motion to acquire the items for
Heritage Park. David Massey seconded the motion, no one opposed, and motion was
approved.
• Bill Byers further reported that Council Member Leon Hogg and his wife Jan also donated
saws and other old, outdoor farm equipment. Mr. Byers is acquiring donation forms for the

• Helen Gleghorn displayed a letter from His Majesty King George V of England along with the
envelope it came in plus a photograph of Mrs. Gleghom's great-uncle, C.W. Ferris. The letter
is addressed to Mr. C.W. Ferris of Euless and is dated April 1918. The letter, envelope and
photograph were passed around for the Committee's viewing. Everyone thought it very
exciting to have such a letter from a King of England addressed to someone in Euless. Mrs.
Gleghorn donated these three items to the Historical Preservation Committee, it was indicated
that it would be displayed in the Library.
• Joe Cannon donated a small paper weight from his father's desk when he was in the nursery
business.

• Dan Clark reported that the list of previous and current Euless Council Members was posted
on the website for a couple of weeks but has been removed. He was unsure of why it was
removed but will follow up on the project.
• The Pakistani/Indian Community oral history project is currently on hold. A couple of
contacts were previously interviewed but did not work out. Council Member Linda Martin
also gave Mr. Clark a contact name from the community; several attempts were made to reach
the contact but have been fruitless. Mr. Clark will continue working on it.

5. Photography Sub-committee:
• Over one thousand photos have been scanned and inventoried by staff for the files.
• Dan Clark cautioned the Committee to keep in mind that newly acquired photographs and
donations need to be inventoried for the Committee's files prior to being included in the
displays. He further mentioned that photographs are difficult to track once they are included in
the photo albums and if at all possible, give them to staff to scan and inventory first before
including them in the inventory.
6. Sub-committee Update: Staff provided Dan Clark with a list of all sub-committees instituted by
the regular Committee since 2003. This was done per a request made at the May meeting. Mr.
Clark thanked the staff for taking the time to work on the project. The list included dates of when
each sub-committee was instituted, names of officers and members, etc. Copies were given to the
Committee to review and discuss. Mr. Clark inquired of the purpose of various sub-committees, it
was brought up that perhaps some can be combined as they seem to encompass the same purpose,
a couple of sub-committees were removed as they have served their purposes, etc., etc. Various
questions and ideas regarding the subject could not be decided and Mrs. Fuller indicated that the
subject will be postponed for review by the members. Furthermore, Mrs. Fuller asked the
Committee to review the list over the summer break and the subject will be discussed at
September's meeting.

HPC MTG. 060809 Page 3
• Helen Gleghorn displayed the 1931 quilt she previously donated to the City Museum. The
quilt has names of very prominent Euless women from the 30's on it. Mrs. Gleghorn had the
unfinished quilt completed. Members thought it a beautiful addition of Euless history to the
Museum and were very thankful to Mrs. Gleghorn for her contributions. It was indicated that
the quilt can not be displayed in an enclosed casing due to possible damage. Betty Fuller will
give Helen Gleghorn the contact number for the curator of the Dallas Museum of Art to
