Minutes
January 13, 2020
CALL TO ORDER
Acting Chairperson Mavy Wright called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting
was held at the Euless City Hall, Euless. She extended a welcome to the members and
visitors.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown,Al Browning, Bill Byers,Joe Cannon, Barbara Collier,James Fuller, Norma
Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, David Massey,Veva Lou Massey,Anniece McKanna, Gary
Parker, Helen Payton, Linda Pool, Faye Stinneford, Peggy Vandiver, Helen Voss,Andy
Weinzapfel, and Mavy Wright.
STAFF PRESENT
Parks and Community Services Director Ray McDonald, Parks and Community Services
Projects Coordinator Ofa Faiva-Siale.
VISITORS PRESENT
Mayor Linda Martin.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Andy Weinzapfel made a correction to the December 2019 minutes under Status of Current
Projects, item #9a; Mr. Weinzapfel found a wood splitter and not an ax on the tract of land
west of the Texas Star Golf Course. Linda Pool added that under Committee Report/Input,
item #2, it should say, the victrola repair is ongoing. Helen Voss made a motion to accept
the minutes with the corrections, and Al Browning seconded the motion. With unanimous
approval, Ms.Wright stated the motion carried.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer Mavy Wright advised that the December balance was $11,498.51. There was a
deposit of$295, resulting in an ending balance of$11,793.51.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment—a signup sheet for the February Open
House was passed around.

a. There were 20 total people at Heritage Park during the January open house.
b. About 150 signatures were counted for the December Heritage Park
Christmas event. There were however, many who did not sign in. Staff
estimated between 450-500 total visitors.
2. Acquisition—Mr. Byers had no report.
3. Facebook—no report.
4. Plaque—Faye Stinneford stated the Betty Fuller memorial plaque is complete. It will be
installed above the Fuller display area. Two memorial/honorary plaques have been
filled and a third one will be purchased.
5. Display Signs—Mavy Wright stated this is an ongoing project.
6. Publicity/Program/Speakers—Mavy Wright stated she has scheduled a tour of the
newly remodeled Mary Lib Saleh Library for the committee meeting on September 14,
2020. The placement of museum artifacts back to the Library is yet to be determined.
a. Museum tours have been scheduled for January 28, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
b. Another tour is on schedule for March 11, 2020 at 10 a.m.
7. Historical Albums—Marilyn Long indicated her committee has taken a holiday break
and will reconvene this week. Due to upcoming medical procedures, the album
committee may not be able to work unless someone else can open the facility.
8. Heritage Park—Gary Parker had no report. Helen Voss will photograph the existing
cabinets to share with a possible vendor.
9. Artifact Recovery—Andy Weinzapfel remarked that he had determined the unknown
object he displayed at the December meeting, it was a lipstick casing and it still had
lipstick inside.
a. He circulated the wood splitter and a brake shoe/pad that he had recently
discovered. He hopes to begin metal detecting at the Mosier Valley
Cemetery and noted there is a section dedicated to the Black Free Masons for
which he desired more information from anyone who might know a history
of that organization. Billy Byers was reminded of a former chapter in Fort
Worth.

b. He also stated he is seeking verbiage for a display plaque which will be
placed at the museum once the farm/barn implements are relocated to the
McCormick Barn. Linda Pool suggested moving the tools as soon as possible.
c. Bird's Fort and Mosier Valley need to be acknowledged as well.
d. Norma Lively inquired about the status of the Blacksmith Shop. Mayor
Martin indicated a meeting is on schedule to discuss the future of that
building. Ms. Wright recommended waiting for Chairperson McCormick's
input before making any decisions.
10. Historical Tree Program—no report.
11. Inventory—no report.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
Ms.Wright reviewed the few items left on the HPC project list from 2014. Items included,
boxes for mannequins, acquisition of stove pipe, inventory, etc. all items are either done or
ongoing.
STAFF REPORT
Mr. McDonald indicated the structural repairs to the Fuller House have been completed.
Helen Payton and Linda Pool will decide on the wallpaper soon.
COMMITTEE REPORT/INPUT
1. There was a brief discussion about the future repairs to the victrola and player piano.
The recent repairman is no longer available, and potential repairs will have to be done
off-sight by another repairman. To repair or not will need to be determined at a future
meeting.
2. Faye Stinneford advised that the Fire Department Steak Dinner will take place on March
21, 2020 at Fire Station 3. Tickets will be available soon, and Outback Steakhouse will
be catering the meal.
ADJOURNMENT
Faye Stinneford made a motion to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Helen Voss.
The meeting adjourned at 10:30a.m.
