REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate presented the statistics and our numbers continue to show increases in Circulation and database usage.
Kate reports that we have designated "Spot the Dog" as our mascot and was able to purchase "Spot"a big beautiful plush
dog to keep on display at the Circ desk.
The Parade of Lights was a big success. The Library Foundation float was wonderful and we had several library staff
volunteer to walk and work on the float. A big thanks to Barney for walking!
The wireless access is working and we have received positive feedback from everyone.
We have implemented restrictions on "R" rated DVD's and videos on the children's library cards. We have received
good feedback from parents who appreciate this service. This service is implemented with the permission of the parents
before we flag the account.
The library expansion is scheduled to begin the middle of December. The back storage has been cleared out with the
exception of the Library Foundation, Friends of the Library books, the cage that stores files for Finance, Police and
Courts. The expansion will provide a new reading/quiet area, a new history/Genealogy area, expansion of the Reference
Department office space, two additional study rooms, the back office will have additional space by moving the supply
room into the shell, and a new server room for the computer equipment. The library building will have new carpet
installed with the exception of the meeting room. There is a possibility the library will have to closed for a couple of days
while they install the carpet. New automatic doors will be installed on the east side of the library.
Mike Lowry, Director of Purchasing, has placed old equipment from several departments in an auction. The auction will
run through December 21, 2007.
