REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate presented the March monthly statistics. Our numbers continue to show increases in Circulation and
database usage. The April monthly statistics will be presented at the next meeting.
The Library received the 2006 Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award. When the award is received it
will be presented at the City Council meeting and the Board will be invited to attend.
March and April have been very busy with events. We had 93 attend the performance by the Tea Merchants, 90
attended the performance of Amelia Bedelia, ELF sold 56 tickets for"An Evening with Elmer Kelton", and the
Friends of the Library had another successful book sale making over$1900. Ballet Folklorico will perform in
the Library Meeting room on May 14tH
We have problems with the downloadable books and have decided not to order them for now. We have decided
to purchase Rosetta Stone instead. Rosetta Stone package includes Spanish, French, German, Greek, Italian,
Russian, and English. The remainder of the Loan Star money will be used to put in lighting for the Meeting
Room stage and possibly for a large screen television at the Circulation desk as an informational source for
events in the Library.
For security reasons we have closed the Twin Bridge Mini-Library. The Youth Department and Facilities
worked very hard packing up the books and moving the furniture back to the Library.
Summer Reading Club starts June 1St and the Youth Department will be doing school visits and signing up
children for the program. This year we will also have a Summer Reading Club for adults. Both programs are
called"Sail Away with Books."
