DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the October minutes. Betty Fuller made the motion to
accept the minutes, and Barney Snitz seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate Lyon reported that Library statistics continue to increase each month. The Library participated in the
"Halloween Thing" sponsored by the city. We were a big hit with our spinning wheel and prizes.
The Board and Commissions Dinner is November 13 at the Texas Star. Lucinda Hoffman-Garcia and Kacey
Bess our new alternate board members will attend the dinner and program. Mike McGehee reported that he will
not be able to attend.
Kate checked with the City Secretary's office regarding "Honorary Board Members" positions. The way the
charter is written, there is no way to allow for this.
The Suggestion Boxes are out of the library and have been replaced by signs that let the patrons know they can
ask for the suggestion forms if they have a concern or request for the Administrator. A few days after they were
removed a patron asked for a form and made a useful suggestion, so Kate thinks this new system will work.
We no longer offer notary services in the library. This was very time intensive for the staff and we had
limitations on the type of notary service we could offer the public. We have lists available for the public of
locations that offer notary service.
We have decided to use the Loan Star Grant money to purchase downloadable books, newspapers on line
including 40 that are Spanish, and $1200 in Spanish audio books.
The library is participating in the United Way Basket auction again this year. All of the baskets will be on
display in the Library Board Room starting November 3 and tickets are available through Karan.
The City Employee Christmas Luncheon is December 8th at Campus West. We are collecting unwrapped toys
for the Marines Toys for Tots campaign. If you would like to donate with the staff the box is by Karan's desk.

DISCUSSIONS
LuAnn Portugal reports that she thinks the fotonovellas are fairly mild and would like to see them made
available to our Spanish speaking citizens. Mike McGehee agreed. Kate has concerns about the amount of staff
time that will be needed to review each title for suitability. No final decision has been reached. The Spanish
collection continues to grow with the addition of new magazines and the forthcoming audio books.
Mike McGehee also reports that the Euless Library Foundation is still looking for the next art project for the
Library.
