accept the minutes, and Barney Snitz seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate Lyon reported that Library statistics continue to increase each month. We had a wonderful month in
September with three great programs.
Kate Lyon and Betty Fuller attended the NTRLS Systems Assembly Meeting on Thursday, September 28, 2006
in Decatur. The speaker was Jeff Crilley a reporter from Channel 4. NTRLS reported that the systems office is
in very good shape.
The Friends of the Library had a very successful book sale making over $3000 in three days. The sale was
September 29-October 1, 2006.
We have a new part-time Library Aide, Amanda Tones, in the Circulation Department.
We are looking to expand our Spanish collection with popular adult books called fotonovelas. The books are
inexpensive paper books that do not hold up for very long. We will not be putting these books on hold. Kate
asked for input from the Board on these books.
Kate Lyon asked the board for their input on discontinuing the Suggestion Box. Most of the suggestions are
vulgar comments.
Kate Lyon is meeting next week with Artsnet to schedule Masterworks programming for the comi:ig year. It is
our plan to use the Meeting Room more this year and book more family oriented programs. Kate asked for
suggestions from the Board. Chris McAllister suggested contacting UTA and for added diversity the Tongan
community here in Euless. Marcia Brown suggested Book Fare and the arts department at Trinity High School
DISCUSSIONS:
Fotonovela Books: The board would like to expand our Spanish collection but would like to have someone
translate a couple of the books for them. After discussion by the board it was decided to make a motion to
support the Library Administrator, Kate Lyon's, decision regarding adding the books to the collection.

accessible for children to reach. Marcia Brown seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Suggestion Box: The Board would like to look at other alternatives such has having signs in the Library that
encourage patrons to ask an employee for a form. After discussion by the Board it was decided to make a
motion regarding their suggestions.
Marcia Brown made a motion to eliminate the suggestion box and implement signage that says "Comments and
concerns are important to us please ask an employee for a form." Betty Fuller seconded the motion. Motion
passed unanimously.

Barney Snitz reported that the Euless Civilian Fire Fighter Association will be meeting at Fire Administration
Building this year. Their project this year is to keep the City Administration grounds clean and attractive.
Barney Snitz also asked if it would be possible to talk with the City Secretary's office to have Denise Feeley
