Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the August minutes with the correction of the word
"seconded" in the disposition of the minutes from the August minutes. LuAnn Portugal made the motion to
accept the minutes with corrections, and Barney Snitz seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate Lyon reported that September is Library Card Sign-up Month. We are giving away hand-held calculators
to everyone who signs up for a card. Any patron can enter the drawing to win the DVD "Akeelah and the
Bee." We will draw for the winner on Monday, October 2, 2006.
September Programs in the Library:
1. Monday, September 11—"The Old Texas Guard Fife and Drum Corps" will perform at 7:00pm in the
Meeting Room.
2. Tuesday, September 19 we will have "Murder In Texas: Fact and Fiction" with four Texas authors
talking about their books.
3. The Friends of the Library book sale is September 29th, 30th, and October 1St. The Early Bird Sale is
Friday from 3-6pm with a $5.00 admission.
We were given money in the budget last year to reupholster furniture in the Library. The funds have been
rolled into the new budget along with additional money for this same project. Kate, Sherry and Karan met with
Ralph Turpin of Architex and have made some selections of fabric for the chairs. After the new budget year we
will order fabric and begin the process of recovering the chairs.
Sylvia Paul, PT Library Aide, has accepted a position as Clerk in the Municipal Courts for the City of Euless.
Kate Lyon and Betty Fuller will attend the NTRLS Regional Meeting on Thursday, September 28, 2006.
Christopher McAllister's baby girl, Lillian, was born on August 10, 2006. The baby was not due until
November and will remain in the hospital for several weeks. Chris reports that she is doing fine, and Louise is
doing well and is home.
DISCUSSIONS:
Mike McGehee reported that we need Alternates for the Library Board. LuAnn Portugal would like to see some
diversity on the board. Anyone interested should get in touch with Susan Crim in the City Secretary's Office.

Mike McGehee inquired about the expansion space in the Library. Kate Lyon reported that the City approved
money for a Consultant in the 2007 budget.
Mike McGehee also reported that Sandra Crowley will be the new President for the Euless Library Foundation.
They will have a Spring fundraiser with author Elmer Kelton.
Barney Snitz was pleased to see the Library participate in the Bike Rodeo. The bags and bike bottles were well
received.

The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by Betty
Fuller. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
