Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the June minutes with the correction of Meg Adaya and Collin Grabeel
graduated from TCC. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes with corrections,and Adriane Weinstein second the
motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate Lyon reported the VIP Reception for the 10th Birthday and Anniversary of the Library was very successful with over 100 people
attending. We had many events during the 10-day celebration with promotional items given away to everyone who came to the
library. Food for Fines was a big success with 3,040 food items donated. We had patrons donate food items that did not owe fines.
The Summer Reading Club signed up 1366 children this year. We had a total of 41 programs with 4466 people attending. Lakewood
Elementary School had the most children sign up this year with 66 registrations. We also had a contest"Why I Love the Library."
Patrons wrote why they loved the library and were eligible to enter for a drawing. The prize was a Dumbo Basket worth$65.00.
Children who completed the requirements of the SRC were eligible to win our Grand Prize of 2 bicycles. We gave away a girls
bicycle and a boys bicycle with bike helmets.
Kate handed out the monthly statistic report for June and July. The numbers continue to increase including the number of library
cards.
Kate reports that we have 2 new employees. Kelly LaBrie is our new full-time Librarian Assistant in Reference. She comes to us
with many skills including ESL Certification. Amanda Torrealba is also in the Reference area as part-time Librarian Assistant.
We have a busy month in September with three events:
Saturday, September 9th"Fire and Ice" Show at 2pm in the Meeting Room
Monday, September 11th"Texas Old Guard Fife&Drum Corps"at 7pm in the Meeting Room
Tuesday, September 19th"Murder in Texas: Fact and Fiction"at 7pm in the Meeting Room
DISCUSSIONS:
Barney had requested information on the staff and their job description . Kate handed out the current organization chart that showed
all employees and their job positions. Kate shared that she feels like she has a great staff and facility.
Barney asked about the possibility of the library hours changing. Kate would like to see us open later on Wednesday. This is
something we could discuss in the future.
Chris McAllister shared with us that his wife is doing well and the baby, Lillian Christine,is due November 2.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Denise Feeley is our visitor again this month. She is scheduled to attend the next Fire Academy but is very interested in being a board
member. She thinks the library is so good and she always hears such positive comments

The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by Adriane Weinstein. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
