NEW BUSINESS
1. Review and discuss Annual Teen Court Scholarship Gala Information.
Vice Chairperson Bien Camungol asked the other Advisory Board Members present a question of "Why
is Teen Court Compelling for HEB?" He then asked who can they reach to explain about what Teen
Court is and why there is an Annual Teen Court Gala? There was a suggestion of reaching out to the
Neighborhood Associations or HOAs to let them become aware.
Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst asked the Advisory Board Members if they had any
suggestions of a speaker for Gala. A few suggestions were Robert Earley, CEO of John Peter Smith
Hospital in Ft. Worth, Sheriff Bill Waybourn, Sheriff of Tarrant County and Kyle Pekurney, Smithfield
Middle School Principal.
There was the question of how many senior teen volunteers would be filling out the applications. Ms.
Eichorst explained she knew of six teen volunteers that have shown interest in filling out the scholarship
application but not sure how many will turn them in.
Vice Chairperson Camungol asked Ms. Eichorst if she would check with Texas Star Conference Center
to see if the list of plated meals provided could also be buffet -style meals too.

Hall.

OLD BUSINESS
3. Discuss and possibly take action on items as they relate to 2020 annual Teen Court
Scholarship Gala,
Vice Chairperson Bien Camungol mentioned that a Gala Committee Meeting was held prior to this
meeting and several topics were discussed. The topics included the different choices for a meal and if
it could be buffet style, potential speakers, and getting the word out about the Gala.
NEW BUSINESS
4. Discuss and possibly take action on a list of Advisory Board Member's commitment to HEB
Teen Court.
At the September Advisory Board Meeting, it was discussed that the Advisory Board Members would
come up with a "list" of commitment to HEB Teen Court. The results are the following in no specific
order: be at the hourly meetings, support the program, always the first Thursday of the month and plan
on every month but for sure once a quarter, needs to attend 80 percent of the meetings, and the
appointment is for a two-year term. The Teen Court Fundraising Gala in the spring is a vital component
of the meetings to prepare for the following year. The mention of fundraising and securing sponsorships
is what helps make the Gala a success and replenishes the money for more teen volunteer
scholarships.
