GALA COMMITTEE MEETING
MEETING OF NOVEMBER 7, 2019

The Gala Committee of the Teen Court Advisory Board of the cities of Hurst, Euless and
Bedford, Texas met at 5000 p.m. at Bedford City Hall, Upstairs Conference Room, on the 7th day
of November 2019, with the following members present.
HURST: Lorrie Dickerson
EULESS: Robin Edwards
BEDFORD: Kathleen Toms
HEB Teen Court Coordinator- Mindy Eichorst

CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Kathleen Toms called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. with three Board Members
present.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Review and discuss Annual Teen Court Scholarship Gala Information.
There were several names of speakers that were suggested to speak at the Gala. Lorrie Dickerson
suggested Kyle Pekurney, Smithfield Middle School Principal, and well -liked by staff, students, and
parents. One other suggestion was Robert Earley, President and CEO of JPS Health Network. Sheriff
Bill Waybourn, Tarrant County was another suggestion. One last suggestion was Myles Turner, NBA
Basketball Player for Indiana Pacers, but also a former HEBISD Student. His family still lives in the area
and he frequently visits.
The menu was discussed with the food selections listed from Texas Star Conference Centre. There
was a unanimous decision to have a buffet style meal. The Advisory Board looked at the food options
and there was a suggestion of having two different meal options at the buffet. Teen Court Coordinator
Mindy Eichorst mentioned she would ask the Event Coordinator at Texas Star to see if that could be an
option.
The Advisory Board Members were trying to come up with more marketing ideas to let the community
know what the Gala represents. All for G0000000d, the silent auction company, will be assisting with
the Gala. They have mentioned "what will bring people to the Gala or support it?" An idea to have a
raffle of some larger items, donated by businesses, along with the silent auction, was suggested. The
Advisory Board Members and volunteers could sell raffle tickets.
The next Gala Committee Meeting will be on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Bedford City
Hall,
ADJOURNMENT
Robin Edwards made a motion to adjourn and Lorrie Dickerson seconded the motion. The meeting was
adjourned at 6:01 p.m.
