GALA COMMITTEE MEETING
MEETING OF JANUARY 9, 2020

The Gala Committee of the Teen Court Advisory Board of the cities of Hurst, Euless and
Bedford, Texas met at 5:00 p.m. at Bedford City Hall, Upstairs Conference Room, on the 9th day
A January 2020, with the following members present.

EULESS: Robin Edwards

CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Kathleen Toms called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. with three Board Members
present.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Review and discuss Annual Teen Court Scholarship Gala Information.
Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst spoke to the City of Bedford City Attorney and was advised that
the Advisory Board Members would not be able to sell raffle tickets for items at the silent auction.
Lorrie Dickerson suggested if a person wanted to donate money they would have the opportunity to win
the donated prize. Ms. Eichorst suggested to continue with the silent auction and utilizing All For
G0000000d.
Ms. Eichorst mentioned that the one suggestion for a speaker, Myles Turner, would not be available for
the evening of the Gala. She then handed out the information on the other speaker that was
suggested, Kyle Pekurney, Principal at Smithfield Middle School, Birdville ISD. The Gala Committee
talked it over and Chairperson Kathleen Toms made a motion and Lorrie Dickerson seconded the
motion to have Kyle Pekurney as the speaker for the 2020 Scholarship Gala and all were in favor.
Ms. Eichorst passed out the Sponsor/Donation form and mentioned that it was included in the online
City of Bedford magazine. Lorrie Dickerson mentioned having a QR code on the invitations to have the
link to the website for more information. A PayPal account or something similar might be set up
through the website to pay for the tickets, sponsorship, or donations online but Ms. Eichorst needs to
check with Finance for verification.
The menu from the Texas Star Conference Center for the Gala was passed out and the entree was
narrowed down to two options. The two options are pot roast with mashed potatoes and green beans
and green chili chicken with black beans or wild pilaf and mixed veggies. The dinner will be buffet -style
with each entree option on either side. The Gala Committee would also like to have two options for
dessert. Ms. Eichorst is checking with the Event Coordinator to make sure the cost will remain the
same.
The next Gala Committee Meeting will be on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Bedford City
Hall,
ADJOURNMENT
Robin Edwards made a motion to adjourn and Lorrie Dickerson seconded the motion. The meeting was
adjourned at 5:56 p.m.
