Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the April minutes(no minutes for May—meeting cancelled
due to lack of quorum). Betty Fuller made the motion to accept the minutes,and Kate Lyon seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
May Statistics: Visits to the Library— 18,962
Items Checked Out—34,526
Program Attendance—4770(includes SRC School Visits)
JoAnn reports that April 5th and 6th the library was closed due to fumes from the paint that was used to repaint the
covers and and diffusers. The staff kept books checked in and all books were shelved before opening on Thursday,
April 7t.
Youth Department is busy with school visits and the Summer Reading Club,as of today we have 400+signed up,
and we have over 100 teen participating in the Teen Reading Club.
JoAnn attended the opening of the Denton Public Library on June 2,2005.
JoAnn thanked the board for the flowers and support when her father passed away. We also had 2 of our patrons
pass away recently—Maurine Young and Vic Shull. Maurine was a supporter of ELF and the art project,and Vic
Shull was a long time patron. The family of Vic Shull asked that donations be made to the library to purchase
books. All of the checks, $1115.00,were deposited into the Friends of the Library and books have been ordered.
Staffing Changes: Chris Dennis accepted a position at Fort Worth Public Library, and Linda Evers accepted a
position as Youth Librarian at Watauga Public Library.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. City Administration has the Library Board committee suggestion for honoring Willie Mae McCormick and
will take action later. Our suggestion is still under consideration.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. JoAnn would like the Library Board to try Answer Zone and give her some feedback so we can see if the
cost is justified.
2. ELF will have dedication of the art project on the evening of August 12t and the board is encouraged to
attend;and an open house to the public on Saturday,August 13 and Sunday,August 14.
3. ELF fund raiser on November 12th will be dinner and an evening with Kinky Friedman at Delaney
Vineyards.
4. Friends of the Library would like to fold into the ELF and continue to do their book sales. This committee
has been formed with the Friends President and representatives of the ELF and the meeting will be called in
the early fall.
5. "Greet the Soldiers"in June. Transportation is not available this time. Friends of the Library donated
money to help city put together gift bags for the soldiers to have when they arrive at DFW.

The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by Adriane
Weinstein. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
